The October 29, 2026 security breach of Binance set a precedent as the largest digital heist in history, eclipsing the $1.5 billion Bybit hack from February 2025. The sheer scale of the incidentâ$6.36 billion USD in crypto stolen in approximately 20 minutesâhas drawn intense scrutiny across the tech, security, and financial sectors.
1. Initial Breach Vector & Execution Speed.
The attack launched around 20:05 UTC on October 29, 2026. Most of the stolen assets were transferred out of Binance hot wallets across 10 distinct blockchain networks within a 20-minute window.
* Access Vector: Preliminary investigations suggest an initial compromise of an engineerâs endpoint device or service container environment. Binance CEO Richard Teng subsequently clarified that it was not a simple âone-clickâ privilege abuse by a single employee, but rather a coordinated, multi-stage operation targeting hot wallet signing workflows.
* Ethereum Delegation Exploit: On the Ethereum network, the attackers executed an EIP-7702 delegation, effectively turning a Binance hot wallet into a sweeper contract under their control using 50 pre-signed authorizations prepared hours prior.
* Multi-Chain Sweeping: Concurrently, hot wallets across 9 other blockchains (including Solana, XRP Ledger, and Optimism) executed signed transfers, draining liquidity almost instantaneously.
2. Threat Actor Attribution.
Major blockchain forensic firmsâincluding TRM Labs, Chainalysis, and Pangolin Intelligenceâhave attributed the breach with high confidence to TraderTraitor (a specialized cyber unit associated with North Koreaâs Lazarus Group).

3. Incident Containment & Countermeasures.
Despite the immediate loss, a rapid response across the broader web3 and stablecoin ecosystem mitigated a portion of the stolen funds:
* Stablecoin Blacklisting: Major issuersâincluding Tether, Circle, and Rippleâalongside protocols like the Arbitrum Security Council, froze roughly $2.7 billion to $3.0 billion in stolen stablecoins and assets before they could be fully laundered.
* Unfreezable Assets: The attackers managed to swap and bridge hundreds of millions in stablecoins into native ETH (~420,000 ETH) and BTC (~18,270 BTC), placing roughly $2.4Bâ$3.5B beyond the reach of centralized freeze mechanisms.
* Exchange Operations & Fund Guarantee: Binance temporarily halted withdrawals and deposit processing for security audits while confirming that user funds remain safe, committing to absorb the net unrecovered losses through internal corporate reserves.

Glutamine metabolism is often viewed as a cancer cell dependency, but its biological consequences depend on how glutamine and its carbon- and nitrogen-derived metabolites are used across malignant, immune, and stromal compartments. In this article, we introduce the glutamine metabolic interaction network (GMIN) as an analytical framework that integrates nutrient partitioning, competition, metabolic cooperation, and metabolite-mediated regulation while distinguishing candidate associations from functionally supported interactions. We review the biochemical, spatial, and treatment-dependent determinants of GMIN states, including emerging evidence for metabolic remodeling during immunotherapy resistance. Current clinical evidence neither supports uniform glutaminase 1 dependence nor establishes a single preferred strategy for glutamine-directed intervention. GMIN may therefore provide a framework for identifying context-specific glutamine-centered interactions and prioritizing them for state-resolved therapeutic targeting.
