And soon it will even dock automatically.

X Shore, the Swedish sustainable boat firm responsible for the Eelex 8,000 recently opened two new offices in the U.S. as part of its plans for expansion, following its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in March.

“The Eelex 8,000 can travel up to 100nm at lower speeds and can reach speeds over 30 knots. This allows our customers to enjoy being environmentally conscious, without sacrificing performance,” X Shore CEO Jenny Keisu explains in an interview over email.

Since it was founded in 1996, the company has added a host of impressive technologies to its electric boat, drawing comparisons to the “Tesla of the seas”. But, as Keisu tells us, the benefits of the Eelex 8,000 go far beyond providing a sustainable alternative to private boats running on fossil fuels.

Taiga Motors announced that it has manufactured its first production electric snowmobiles and deliveries are expected to start early next year following regulatory approval.

Like the auto industry, the powersports world is being electrified, and Quebec-based Taiga Motors is one of the companies leading the way for electric snowmobiles and jet skis. Earlier this year, Taiga made waves when it went public and raised $100 million to bring its electric vehicles to production.

Most of the money is going to be used for a big new factory in Shawinigan, but in the meantime, the company is starting low-volume production at a smaller facility in Montreal.

Video calling has become a critical service enabling remote work and learning from home. And for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, it can also be a lifeline — but not everyone is able to communicate using sign language, the primary language of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. That’s why we’re collaborating with ZP Better Together, LLC, a leading provider of video interpreting and communication solutions for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, to bring Video Relay Services (VRS) to the Meta Portal family of video-calling devices. With VRS, a relatively new form of telecommunication service, members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community can communicate in real time with hearing people using a sign language interpreter. If you’re Deaf or Hard of Hearing, you can even apply to receive a Portal for free at portal.zpvrs.com.

He has done his math. The questions seem to be: How to put together viable payloads to make use of Stsrship launches? How to build new markets in space?

This again?! Game Over? Busted? We’re doing Starship again so soon because I’m an unoriginal hack. There’s also been new developments in Starship and I think it’s a perfect time to revisit the launch system. Get as mad as you wish.

Will Starship live up to expectations? Will it really revolutionize space travel? Is Mars and beyond finally within grasp? Why are Musk’s fans so strangely devoted to him? Will I stop asking dumb questions?

Intel backpedals…

Intel has apologized in China following a backlash over a directive to suppliers not to source products or labor from the Xinjiang region.

The US chipmaker told suppliers in a letter dated December 2021 that it “is required to ensure our supply chain does not use any labor or source goods or services from the Xinjiang region” of China, citing government restrictions and questions from investors and customers.

Machinia exists in the future when the world of robots is the norm. And, as has been highlighted in other posts, the world of the “extraordinary tomorrow” begins with the “unexceptional today.” #clean, #university

SAIT has started using autonomous robots to clean the floors at its main campus.

The robots are from Brain Corp, an artificial intelligence (AI) company, and contracted to SAIT for use through Calgary-based Bee Clean, Canada’s largest janitorial services provider.

In a Tuesday news release, Bee Clean said the robots will help maintain a “safe and clean” environment for students by scrubbing 58,000 square feet daily on the main campus.
