COVID-19 turned city streets into pop-up restaurants. What if we didn’t go back?

Microsoft has unveiled an update on its Microsoft 365 roadmap, introducing a fresh chat experience within Microsoft Teams. This enhancement enables users to seamlessly open web links from chats in Microsoft Teams using Microsoft Edge. For example, when a user clicks on a web link within a chat, the link will now launch in Microsoft Edge, appearing alongside the ongoing Teams conversation. This feature promotes multitasking, allowing users to maintain their chat discussion while simultaneously viewing the linked web content.

The newly introduced feature is identified with the code 126,334 and was appended to the roadmap on August 4, 2023. This update is tailored exclusively for Microsoft Teams and pertains to the Worldwide (Standard Multi-Tenant) cloud instance. The platform for this development is the web.

David Chalmers is a philosopher at New York University and the Australian National University. He is Professor of Philosophy and co-director of the Center for Mind, Brain, and Consciousness at NYU, and also Professor of Philosophy at ANU.

Chalmers works in the philosophy of mind and in related areas of philosophy and cognitive science. He is especially interested in consciousness, but am also interested in all sorts of other issues in the philosophy of mind and language, metaphysics and epistemology, and the foundations of cognitive science.

From an early age, he excelled at mathematics, eventually completing his undergraduate education at the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. He then briefly studied at Lincoln College at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar before receiving his PhD at Indiana University Bloomington under Douglas Hofstadter. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology program directed by Andy Clark at Washington University in St. Louis from 1993 to 1995, and his first professorship was at UC Santa Cruz, from August 1995 to December 1998.

Dr. Scott O’Neill (PhD, FAA, FAAAS) is Founder of the World Mosquito Program (https://www.worldmosquitoprogram.org/en/work/about-us/team/scott-oneill) and Professor at Monash University (https://lens.monash.edu/@scott-oneill), where he leads a large international research collaboration (formerly known as Eliminate Dengue), which is focused on developing the Wolbachia bacteria as a novel method to block the transmission of dengue fever and other mosquito-transmitted viral diseases, such as Zika and chikungunya. This global, not-for-profit program is currently conducting field trials of the Wolbachia method in multiple countries, in areas where these diseases are endemic, working closely with communities, local health organizations and governments to implement its self-sustaining method through controlled releases.

Dr. O’Neill has spent his academic career at the University of Illinois, Yale University, the University of Queensland and Monash, where he was previously the dean of the Faculty of Science.

Microsoft first launched Bing Chat six months ago, and the company says it has “seen nine consecutive quarters of growth on Edge,” most likely thanks to the fact Microsoft had locked Bing Chat to its own browser. There have also been over 1 billion chats on Bing Chat and over 750 million images generated using the service.

Windows Copilot, powered by Bing Chat, is also coming to Windows 11 soon. Microsoft is currently testing this sidebar in builds of Windows 11, and it’s looking like it will likely roll out to all Windows 11 users later this year.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) shared some spectacular images from its Chandrayann-3 mission, showcasing the monumental moment in India’s space history. This marks the country’s third lunar exploration mission which will also include a lunar landing of a rover.

Chandrayann-3 launched on July 14, 2023, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, India, and is made up of a lunar lander, propulsion module, and a rover. If the Indian spacecraft is able to successfully land on the moon, it would make India only the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the surface of the moon, with the other three being the United States, Russia, and China. However, before the lunar landing is attempted, Chandrayann-3 has sent back some stunning images of the lunar surface.
