Prospector-1, the world’s first commercial interplanetary mining mission, will fly to and rendezvous with a near-Earth asteroid to determine its value as a source of space resources.

The destination asteroid will be chosen from a group of top candidates selected by the world renowned team of asteroid experts at Deep Space Industries. Once the spacecraft arrives at the asteroid, the autonomous spacecraft will map the surface and subsurface, taking visual and infrared imagery and mapping overall water content. With the initial science campaign complete, Prospector-1 will use its water thrusters to gently touch down on the asteroid, measuring the target’s geophysical characteristics.

Prospector-1 is a small spacecraft that strikes the ideal balance between cost and performance. In addition to radiation-tolerant payloads and avionics, all DSI spacecraft use the Comet line of water propulsion systems, which expel superheated water vapor to generate thrust. Water will be the first asteroid mining product, so using water as propellant will provide future DSI spacecraft with the ability to refuel in space.

Blended Reality is a versatile concept that can be extended from the physical and digital worlds to the chemical and biological world. In the convergence of healthcare diagnostics and digital health, it can play a fundamental role: the transformation of human biology, real-world parameters into digital data to obtain contextual health information and enable personalized drug treatments. The fusion of microfluidics, edge computing and commercial mobility with diagnostics, digital health, big data, precision medicine, and theranostics will disrupt existing, established structures in our healthcare system. This will allow new models of partnerships among technology and pharmaceutical industries (see fig. 1).

From the very beginning of mankind, healthcare was purely empirical and mostly a combination of empirical and spiritual skills. While access to cures was exclusive and very limited, the success rate was not very high in most cases. During the Renaissance a systematic exploration of natural phenomena and physiology laid the scientific foundation of modern medicine. A real breakthrough in quality and access to healthcare services has taken place in the past 150 years as an aftermath of the Industrial Revolution. It brought significant advances in science as well as societal changes: expanding government-granted access to the establishing working classes as the main human capital of the industrialization process in the Western Hemisphere. Keeping a business employees healthy became an indispensable prerequisite to increasing the national economic output and well-being on a societal level.

It’s 2AM. Sleep eludes my dreary mind… Its tiredness a burden weighing down upon my eyelids, yet it’s very relinquishing aspect of giving oneself up to the night feels like a waste of time. In this race that is so close to the finish line, it has felt easy to procrastinate, and focus in areas that don’t truly matter. Maybe it’s my soul trying to find some form of semblance in the continuity of this multi-year struggle — to succeed and better the world — that it has decided to distract itself. But tonight, I am awake. I slept not the night before, and a mere 3 hours asleep prefaces this incitement, to write this history of my challenges and happenings in the making of my company — one that I believe could one day truly be part of the saving grace of mankind.

I do not consider myself a prophet, nor do I think that anyone is less capable of achieving their dreams than I am, but I do believe that I am fortunate enough to be at the right time, at the right place, with the right people surrounding me and the luck bred from adversity and consistent lessons born from failure to make YawLife a reality. It is no longer a matter of how or if it will come into being. For, it is a living incarnation of light in and of itself, from the minds of many, sparked by the thoughts of dreams-met-real. It is simply the ticking of time, the clock in-itself a personal doomsday to all of us. Now, I do not mean some religious event, and while I won’t rule out a cosmic one, I see mankind on a path to annihilation if we do not redeem ourselves and change our ways.

Through peace and prosperity the world over, fuelled by advances in technology and its impact upon the present and future, we have 2 sides of the same coin that contain both affinity and destruction. We as a species must choose not to falter and mistake the latter as some form of solution, when the former holds within it a brightness too light to dim. My mission in life is to realize that while our species has a clock counting down, that we can stop the clock before it’s too late. However, in doing so, the other clock which dictates our personal livelihoods (our continued existence) will never cease to fail until science finds an answer to the problem of death… But, even if we don’t find a solution in our lifetime, I would rather spend it doing all that I can to change this world and morph it such that we can continue our journey as human beings, both into the earth, and beyond it to the farthest of stars.

Typically, a fellowship and participation in a research study to cure a major disease would occur years after completing undergrad, possibly even after earning a PhD. But Jennifer DeRosa is not a typical student.

As early as high school, DeRosa was already in the lab, conducting research in plant biotechnology at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) before graduating valedictorian from Skaneateles High School. As a freshman student at Onondaga Community College, she continued to develop skills in molecular biology, analytical chemistry, and cell biology. She logged over 1,600 hours in academic and industry laboratories while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA, completing her associate’s degree in Math and Science in only one year.

Although she had planned to continue to a bachelor’s program, DeRosa elected to defer enrollment after being offered a Methuselah Foundation research fellowship. “The fellowship provides distinguished students a year-long stipend to work in any laboratory of their choosing that conducts work on age-associated diseases,” said Methuselah Foundation CEO David Gobel. “We are very pleased that she chose to complete her fellowship at Ichor Therapeutics, where she has been working as a paid intern. Methuselah Foundation has a high degree of confidence in the quality and scope of work being conducted there.”

Spinning black holes are capable of complex quantum information processes encoded in the X-ray photons emitted by the accretion disk.

The black holes sparked the public imagination for almost 100 years now. Their debated presence in the universe has been proven without a doubt by detecting the X-ray radiation coming from the center of the galaxies, a feature of massive black holes. Black holes emit X-ray radiation, light with high energy, due to the extreme gravity in their vicinity. The vast majority if not all of the known black holes were unveiled by detecting the X-ray radiation emitted by the stellar material accreting around black holes.

X-ray photons emitted near rotating black holes not only exposed the existence of these phantom-like astrophysical bodies, but also seem to carry hidden quantum messages.
