Tesla’s next vehicles have the potential to usher in the extinction of gas cars

During the second quarter earnings call, Elon Musk tentatively confirmed that Tesla would be making a compact car and a vehicle with high capacity. Granted, it would probably take a few more years before such vehicles are produced, but one thing seems certain. Considering Tesla’s speed and pace, it would not be surprising if Tesla’s compact car and high capacity EV causes the extinction of the internal combustion engine.

Tesla’s current lineup of vehicles, which comprise the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y, are great EVs, but they are still fairly large for their class. This includes the Model 3 and the Model Y, Tesla’s “smaller” vehicles in its lineup. This, together with the vehicles’ premium price, end up blocking the company from reaching its full potential in the auto market. With a compact car and a high capacity vehicle, however, things could drastically change for Tesla.

Compact and High Capacity EVs

Tesla has mentioned the creation of a smaller car in the past, and more recently, the company has tapped into China’s creative minds for help in designing its compact car. This vehicle is expected to be designed and manufactured in China, but the opportunities for such a car go far beyond the country. Compact cars have a dedicated following, after all, and for good reason.

SpaceX May Fly A First Full-Size Prototype Of Its Mars Starship Rocket ‘Later This Week’ Says Musk

Elon Musk has said that SpaceX’s latest Starship prototype may fly for the first time this week, as the company continues its efforts to get the ambitious spacecraft up and running ahead of planned flights to the Moon and Mars.

Starship is SpaceX’s proposed spacecraft to transport up to 100 humans at a time – or maybe more – to the Red Planet. The company has been rapidly building prototypes of the giant steel rocket at a test site in Boca Chica, Texas, with the goal of eventually finding a design that works.

Multiple iterations have come and gone so far, with several explosions along the way. But in a tweet yesterday, Tuesday, 21 July, Musk said the latest version – SN5, or serial number 5 – will ‘attempt to fly later this week’. That will be preceded by a static fire test at some point.

Tesla and SpaceX are partnering up to create new materials to use on Earth and in space

Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla plans to use a different alloy for the upcoming Cybertruck electric pickup.

When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck last year, one of the most interesting features was the fact the vehicle isn’t going to be built using a traditional automotive body system but with an exoskeleton.

Elon Musk may be a strong proponent of all things tech. But he’s far from positive on its implications for the jobs market.

In fact, the Tesla CEO says one of tech’s great developments — artificial intelligence — could spell the end of many jobs altogether.

“AI will make jobs kind of pointless,” Musk said Thursday, speaking alongside Alibaba’s founder Jack Ma at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.
