Tesla is going to integrate Elon Musk’s newly launched Grok AI assistant in its electric vehicles, according to the CEO.

Earlier this year, Musk launched a new AI startup, xAI, and said that it will work closely with Tesla.

The company’s mission is “to understand the true nature of the universe”, but in practice, its first project is to build a chatbot or AI assistant à la ChatGPT.

Elon Musk, renowned entrepreneur and co-founder of OpenAI, made an exciting announcement on November 3. Musk revealed that xAI, a subdivision of OpenAI, will be releasing its first artificial intelligence, Grok, to a select group of users. In his tweet, Musk stated that Grok is “the best that currently exists” in many crucial aspects.

Grok, a groundbreaking AI assistant, promises to revolutionize information accessibility and browsing capabilities. Unlike other models, Grok has the unique ability to offer real-time access to information through the powerful platform. Through this platform, Grok can fetch up-to-date information from the internet on any given topic, providing users with comprehensive and timely insights.

Musk also highlighted Grok’s distinctive feature of possessing internet browsing capabilities, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. This grants Grok the capability to not only provide information but also engage in meaningful conversations with users, making it a truly versatile AI assistant.

With “Grok”, Elon Musk introduces a chatbot built with “X” data for “X” premium users. In contrast to OpenAI with ChatGPT, Musk gives the chatbot more creative leeway in its responses.

Musk and his company describe Grok as a humorous, witty, and rebellious chatbot that can answer almost any question. Grok uses its model knowledge based on Internet and X data, as well as real-time information from X, to provide answers. According to xAI, the chatbot also answers “spicy questions” that would be rejected by most other AI systems.

An AI chatbot from Elon Musk’s xAI will be released to X Premium+ subscribers once it’s out of beta, the CEO tweeted. He also shared screenshots of conversations with the AI, and said it is designed to have humorous responses and has access to real-time information from X.

The first product from Elon Musk-led xAI was announced on Friday, and the CEO has suggested that Tesla’s vehicles may natively run a smaller version of the AI assistant.

On Saturday, X user and Tesla enthusiast Chuck Cook spotted that Musk liked a post saying that a smaller, quantized version of the AI model Grōk would run natively on Tesla with local computing power. Following Cook’s mention, Musk noted that Teslas will likely come with the largest amount of usable inference compute in the world — as long as the vehicles’ AI computer can run the Grōk model.

Provided our vehicle AI computer is able to run the model, Tesla will probably have the most amount of true usable inference compute on Earth.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently had an opportunity to visit the Tesla Giga Berlin-Brandenburg plant in Grünheide near Berlin, Germany. Besides making some pronouncements about interior decor, Musk reportedly let on that the plant is expected to be engaged in making Tesla’s next-generation, affordable electric car model.

“We will have for the first time something that is smarter than the smartest human,” added Musk at the UK’s AI Safety Summit.

The latest advancements in artificial intelligence are also fanning an anxious frenzy around the technology replacing human jobs. And that’s something that came up in a candid discussion between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak around the sidelines of the AI Safety Summit.

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, is ready to showcase its first product to the world and will release it to a select group tomorrow, as per a tweet from Musk.

Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI when the organization worked as a non-profit and for the advancement of AI. Over the years, though, OpenAI started leaning towards profit and teamed up with Microsoft, which has poured billions into its growth. The Tesla CEO eventually fell out with his other co-founders and has often criticized OpenAI for its change in stance.

Tesla is ramping up hiring for its humanoid robot program, Optimus, including some reinforcement learning engineers.

It was hard to take Tesla Bot seriously when Elon Musk announced it by having someone dressed as a robot dance on stage.

To this day, many people are taking the project seriously, but Tesla certainly is.
