et al. developed a clever DNA barcode system to measure pooled lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery in nonhuman primates by taking small samples of serum. This allows high-throughput NHP screening of the efficacy of LNP formulations without killing monkeys. However, a limitation of the technique is that the readout does not encode which tissues the LNPs reach. Nonetheless, I expect this method will accelerate LNP discovery while minimizing harm to NHP animals.
