AI is moving from something you prompt to something you delegate work to.

The major announcements point in the same direction:

• Persistent AI agents that can pursue goals over time and work across tools and applications.

• Codex as a more autonomous software-engineering environment, with persistent cloud development environments.

• GPT-6.1 Sol, expanding the range of cost/performance options for developers.

• ChatGPT as an application platform, with richer interactive apps and integrations.

• Collaborative AI workspaces bringing people, applications and agents together.

• Deeper integrations with tools such as Adobe, allowing AI to operate directly within professional workflows.

The common thread is agency.

We are moving beyond AI that simply generates an answer toward systems that can maintain context, use tools, execute multi-step tasks, and continue working toward an objective.

The important question is no longer just “How intelligent is the model?”

It is increasingly:

“What can we delegate to it—and how much autonomy should we give it?”

That shift may ultimately matter more than any single model announcement.
