At Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, creativity meets technology in a remarkable initiative to transform concrete surfaces into stunning artworks. Inspired by Elon Musk’s vision to turn the factory into a canvas, the project began with local graffiti crews. However, the sheer scale of the endeavor required innovative solutions, leading to the collaboration with a robotic muralist startup. This groundbreaking graffiti printer combines cutting-edge technology with artistry, using a triangulation method to maneuver its print head along factory walls. With 12 paint cans onboard, the robot sprays precise dots of color—10 million per wall and 300 million for the west side alone—creating intricate designs composed of five distinct colors. The curated artworks draw inspiration from Berlin’s vibrant culture, Tesla’s groundbreaking products, and the factory itself—described as “the machine that builds the machine.” A blend of global and in-house artistic talent has contributed to the ongoing project, making Giga Berlin not just a hub for innovation but also a celebration of art and ingenuity.

The company also says that it can prove to be equally useful in the open seas, where it can help in ISR, search and rescue, and other missions.
“Imagine, I can upload the mission in a second, throw it from here, forget about it, and it will strike a high-value target (HVT) 40 miles away – fast, accurate, and quiet,” said Alexander Balan, XDown founder, in a post on LinkedIn.
XDown estimates that the cost of the PSK will be fairly competitive, making it a lucrative offering for the US armed forces. The price and its formal launch date is yet to be announced.
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), the molecular “blueprint” carrying the genetic instructions that influence the growth, development, reproduction and predispositions of individual humans, can undergo different types of mechanical stress inside cells. For instance, it can be twisted or stretched, impacting its overall structure and dynamics.
Researchers at the University of York recently explored how DNA behaves under torsion and tension using molecular dynamics simulations. These atomic-scale simulations yielded interesting new findings, which were published in a paper in Physical Review Letters.
“I have always been interested in studying how DNA behaves inside the cell,” Dr. Agnes Noy, senior author of the paper, told Phys.org. “We are used to thinking of DNA as a relaxed ‘perfect’ double helix, but the reality is far from that. Inside cells, DNA is under/overtwisted, resulting in the formation of ‘supercoiled’ loops, resembling what can happen to long cords or garden hoses in our homes.”

“While some may suggest that a standalone quantum computer is still years away, the commercial opportunities from this breakthrough are here and now,” said Dr. Thomas Ehmer from the Healthcare business sector of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. “The generation of meaningful synthetic data, specifically when you do not have many training data, is nontrivial and we see it as a new era for AI unlocked by quantum technologies. The Helios system, launching later this year will hopefully enable AI to be used in unprecedented ways and unlocking transformative potential across industries.”
Gen QAI leverages the unique capabilities of quantum computing to explore data complexities far beyond what classical computing systems and GPUs can handle. Quantinuum is collaborating with industry partners on Generative AI projects that harness the power of quantum computing in sectors such as automotive, pharmaceuticals and materials science. In the coming months, Quantinuum will share results from ongoing collaborations, showcasing the groundbreaking potential of quantum-driven advancements in Generative AI.
Physicists have performed a simulation they say sheds new light on an elusive phenomenon that could determine the ultimate fate of the universe.
Pioneering research in quantum field theory around 50 years ago proposed that the universe may be trapped in a false vacuum —meaning it appears stable but in fact could be on the verge of transitioning to an even more stable, true vacuum state.
While this process could trigger a catastrophic change in the universe’s structure, experts agree that predicting the timeline is challenging, but it is likely to occur over an astronomically long period, potentially spanning millions of years.
