Notorious Emotet Botnet Makes a Comeback with the Help of TrickBot Malware

Posted by in categories: cybercrime/malcode, law enforcement

The notorious Emotet malware is staging a comeback of sorts nearly 10 months after a coordinated law enforcement operation dismantled its command-and-control infrastructure in late January 2021.

According to a new report from security researcher Luca Ebach, the infamous TrickBot malware is being used as an entry point to distribute what appears to be a new version of Emotet on systems previously infected by the former. The latest variant takes the form of a DLL file, with the first occurrence of the deployment being detected on November 14.

Making A Future Better Together. A Vision Of A Pathway

Are we governed by donkeys? COP26 was just a farce of vested interests kissing the butts of fossil fuel legacy industries that are so out of date that they cannot compete anymore and need underhand, secret handshake deals just to keep themselves in the luxury they enjoy…at our expense. So here is my Manifesto for the next decade. It is time to start voting for the right people and harassing your representatives to get them to make the right decisions that will benefit the majority, not a few CEO’s who are so corrupt it is like the plot of a new film…

BREAKING ISS astronauts forced to board Crew Dragon and Soyuz to prepare for a possible evacuation

Posted by in categories: military, satellites

The United States said Monday it was investigating a “debris-generating event in outer space” after astronauts on the International Space Station were forced to prepare for a possible evacuation. It came amid unconfirmed reports that Russia had carried out an anti-satellite weapon (ASAT) test…

“US Space Command is aware of a debris-generating event in outer space. We are actively working to characterize the debris field and will continue to ensure all space-faring nations have the information necessary to maneuver satellites if impacted,” the agency said.

“We are also in the process of working with… the State Department and NASA, concerning these reports and will provide an update in the near future.”

Clinical trial of nasal vaccine for Alzheimer’s disease underway at Boston hospital

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, neuroscience

It is designed to activate white blood cells found in the lymph nodes on the sides and back of the neck to migrate to the brain and trigger clearance of beta-amyloid plaques — one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s. I-Mab Biopharma (I-Mab) and Jiangsu Nhwa Pharmaceutical (NHWA) are responsible for the development, manufacturing and commercialization of Protollin.

The trial represents the culmination of nearly 20 years of research led by Dr. Howard L. Weiner, co-director of the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases at the Brigham.

“The launch of the first human trial of a nasal vaccine for Alzheimer’s is a remarkable milestone,” said Weiner. “Over the last two decades, we’ve amassed preclinical evidence suggesting the potential of this nasal vaccine for AD. If clinical trials in humans show that the vaccine is safe and effective, this could represent a nontoxic treatment for people with Alzheimer’s, and it could also be given early to help prevent Alzheimer’s in people at risk.”
