Lockdown â seen from space.
Almost as soon as the coronavirus pandemic began, experts started noticing that the global lockdown appeared to be resulting in a sharp drop in worldwide carbon emissions.
The idea generated both memes about humanityâs destruction of the planet and well-intentioned visions of a greener future. Now, NASA scientists have found that overall the lockdown has resulted in a 20 percent global reduction in nitrogen dioxide emissions since February, according to a press release â a shift that left them shocked.
A thundering boom that rocked parts of upstate New York on Wednesday afternoon is now believed to have been caused by an unusually large meteor hurtling through Earthâs atmosphere.
This video explains all types of mutations.

âBenjamin and Tina Gibson were blessed on Nov. 25 with their âsweet miracle:â Baby Emma Wren, weighing in at 6 lbs., 8 oz., and 20 inches long, the National Embryo Donation Center announced Tuesday.
But what makes Emma a âmiracleâ child? Having been cryopreserved for twenty-four and a half years, sheâs the longest known frozen human embryo to result in a successful birth.â

New mom gives birth to embryo that was frozen for 24.5 years.
Youâre crazy for this one, Prince Rupert.
Have you heard of the wild, almost indestructible Prince Rupertâs Drop? Science Alert recently unearthed a video from Smarter Every Day that shows this strong-as-hell glass marvel actually shattering a bullet at a beautiful 150,000 frames per second.
âïž You love badass science projects. So do we. Letâs nerd out over them together.
Well⊠it seems we can still be surprised. đ
Cornered by a dangerous predator, a gecko can self-amputate its still twitching tail, creating a fleeting moment of distraction â a chance for the lizard to flee with its life.
Small reptiles such as geckos and skinks are well known for this remarkable ability to sacrifice and then rapidly regrow their tails. Now, to scientistsâ surprise, it turns out that much larger alligators can regrow theirs too. But only while theyâre young.
Juvenile American alligators (Alligator mississippiensis) can regrow up to 18 percent of their total body length back. This is about 23 cm or 9 inches of length.
