This is What Elon Musk’s First Website (Zip2) Looked Like

Global Link Information Network was founded in 1995 by Elon Musk, his brother Kimbal Musk, and Greg Kouri who provided $6,000 in funding. Elon famously dropped out of pursuing a PhD at Stanford in energy physics/material science two days into the program to pursue the opportunity. Global Link Information Network was later renamed as Zip2 and served as a directory for local businesses. In 1996, Zip2 starts pulling data from American Business Information Inc. (ABI) and starts a self-comparison to yellow pages that will continue throughout its lifespan as a brand.

Human Longevity and Freedom Acquisition in merger talks

Human Longevity Inc, which was built by the pioneers of the human genome sequencing effort, and Freedom Acquisition Corporation, a publicly traded special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), have announced that they have signed a non-binding letter of intent for a proposed business combination that would result in HLI becoming a publicly listed company. Assuming everything ticks along as planned, the parties currently expect to seek approval from Freedom’s shareholders by the first quarter of 2023.

Technology: Unicorns are the stuff of legends and headlines, and while there can be no assurance that a definitive agreement will be entered into or that the proposed transaction will be consummated, the speculation is delicious because longevity start-ups with billion-dollar valuations mean more visible, accelerating progress for the sector.

Texas plans to place charging stations for electric cars every 50 miles on most interstates

AUSTIN, TexasTexas is planning to add enough electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state to support 1 million electric vehicles with dozens of new stations to allow for easier long-distance travel.

In a draft plan released this month, the Texas Department of Transportation broke down a five-year plan to create a network of chargers throughout the state, starting along main corridors and interstate highways before building stations in rural areas.

The plan is to have charging stations every 50 miles along most non-business interstate routes.
