Will humans be able to upload consciousness and sensibility onto computer?

Posted by in category: robotics/AI

A scientist has claimed that by the end of this year, humans will be able to upload consciousness onto the computer, making it sensible and being aware of and responsive to its own surroundings, but is it possible for a machine to react the way humans do?

Tech guru Dr Pratik Desai said that with enough recorded audio and videos, people will be able to keep their loved ones forever “alive”. Desai urged people to record their elderly parents and loved ones.

Desai is an expert in artificial intelligence and reports mentioned that he has also founded multiple start-ups and even created his own system similar to ChatGPT. He predicted consciousness could be uploaded onto a computer.

“Can Consciousness be Explained?” — Royal Institute of Philosophy Annual Debate 2023

Posted by in categories: computing, neuroscience

How can flesh and blood brains give rise to pains and pleasures, dreams and desires, sights and sounds? Some believe this ‘hard problem’ of consciousness can never be solved. Can we expect any breakthroughs as the science of the mind progresses?

Our annual debate this year considers whether the problem of consciousness really is intractable. Our illustrious panel is neuroscientist Anil Seth and philosophers Louise Antony, Maja Spener and Philip Goff, with the BBC’s Ritula Shah chairing.

Scientist claims humans will be able to upload consciousness onto computer by the end of this YEAR

Posted by in category: robotics/AI

A computer scientist is urging the world to record their elderly parents and loved ones as he predicts consciousness could be uploaded onto a computer this year. Dr Pratik Desai, who has founded multiple Silicon Valley AI startups, said that if people have enough video and voice recorders of their loved ones, there is a ‘100 percent chance’ of relatives ‘living with you forever.’

Studying Consciousness Without Affecting It

Posted by in categories: electronics, neuroscience

Summary: Researchers found a way to assess consciousness without external stimulation, using a little-used approach where volunteers squeeze a force sensor with their hand when they breathe in and release it when they breathe out, resulting in more precise and sensitive measurements that may help improve treatment for insomnia and coma reversal.

Studies of consciousness often run into a common conundrum of science—it’s hard to measure a system without the measurement affecting the system. Researchers assessing consciousness, for instance as volunteers receive anesthesia, typically use spoken commands to see if subjects can still respond, but that sound might keep them awake longer or wake them up sooner than normal.

Is it possible to transfer human consciousness to a computer? Storage, time and space constraints boggle researchers

Posted by in categories: computing, neuroscience

We often imagine that human consciousness is as simple as input and output of electrical signals within a network of processing units — therefore comparable to a computer. Reality, however, is much more complicated. For starters, we don’t actually know how much information the human brain can hold.
