Something Very Strange Is Going On With Bitcoin And BTC Google Searches

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency prices are well known to be closely tied to media and general public interest –-though that could be changing.

The bitcoin price has been climbing so far this year, rising some 200% since January, though has recently plateaued at around $10,000 per bitcoin after peaking at more than $12,000 in June.

Now, it appears Google searches for bitcoin and BTC, the name used by traders for the bitcoin digital token, could be being manipulated–-possibly in order to move the bitcoin price.

$5.3M Ransomware Demand: Massachusetts City Says No Thanks

After being hit by a ransomware attack, Massachusetts city New Bedford faced a payout demand of more than $5 million – one of the largest known ransoms ever.

After a ransomware attack slapped a hefty payout demand of $5.3 million on New Bedford, Mass., the city announced that it is instead opting to pick up the pieces and restore what it can from backups itself.

If the city had opted to pay, the payout would have been the largest known ransom payout for an attack yet.

Study Results Suggest Human Aging Can Be Reversed

A small clinical trial, which was conducted by a team of researchers led by Dr. Greg Fahy, has shown for the first time in humans that reversing biological age may be possible.

The researchers spent a year running the Thymus Regeneration, Immunorestoration, and Insulin Mitigation (TRIIM) trial, which included 9 volunteers aged between 51 and 65. The trial was aimed at testing if a growth hormone and drug combination could be used safely in humans to restore thymic function lost due to aging [1].

Mathematician Wins $3 Million Breakthrough Prize for ‘Magic Wand Theorem’

Alex Eskin, a mathematician at the University of Chicago, has won the $3 million 2019 Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics.

The Breakthrough Prizes were founded in 2013 by a group of tech billionaires (as well as multihundred millionaire Anne Wojcicki, co-founder and CEO of genomics and biotech company 23andMe). The prizes are awarded each year to researchers in mathematics, fundamental physics and the life sciences. Past winners decide who will win in each category.
