It can assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing and researching diseases, visualizing anatomy and procedures, and analyzing medical images.

The First Quantum Engine Is Here And It Could Power A Revolution

In a schematic view, an engine uses a thermodynamic change to produce work. For example, when a gas is ignited, it expands and so pushes a piston. Now, researchers have been able to develop a similar kind of engine but instead of using the relationship between temperature, pressure, and volume, the new device uses quantum mechanics.

The quantum engine employs a gas that can turn from a fermion gas to a boson gas. Fermions and bosons are a way to divide all particles into two categories. Their difference comes from a property called spin, an intrinsic angular momentum. Fermions have a fractional value (1÷2, 3/2) while bosons have integer spin (0, 1, 2, …).

There is another difference that matters in the engine too: the Pauli exclusion principle. And this only applies to fermions.

Hello, i am back! Blood, sweat and tears have been shed these past months of absence. But enough sweating was done during the summer, tears have already been shed, so that just leaves me with blood. And whether taking a part of blood (plasma) and injecting it into old animals is enough for rejuvenation. That’s right, many of you may remember, earlier this year i made a video on the oldest living rat.- and now we have some updates: in particular, (i) what actually were the rats given, and (ii) what changes were seen, showing both some DNAm and glycan age data.

OpenAI said to be considering developing its own AI chips

OpenAI, one of the best-funded AI startups in business, is exploring making its own AI chips.

Discussions of AI chip strategies within the company have been ongoing since at least last year, according to Reuters, as the shortage of chips to train AI models worsens. OpenAI is reportedly considering a number of strategies to advance its chip ambitions, including acquiring an AI chip manufacturer or mounting an effort to design chips internally.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has made the acquisition of more AI chips a top priority for the company, Reuters reports.

Do you know how heavy container ships are decommissioned? The process takes place in South Asia with the use of fossil fuel-powered torches to tear the ships apart and cut them into smaller pieces.

This results in much pollution both from emissions and the waste that runs down to the sea from the broken ships. It is also quite dangerous for the operators who have no protective clothing and often suffer many fatalities.

China shares ambitious plans to double its space station

As the NASA-led International Space Station (ISS) approaches the end of its life cycle by the 2030s, China wants to increase the size of its space station from three to six modules over the next several years, according to a new report by Reuters.

The newly expanded space station will give astronauts from other countries a different platform for near-Earth missions and will be operational for more than 15 years.
