Greg Macpherson

Greg Macpherson is a New Zealand Pharmacist, Biotechnologist, Cellular Health Expert, and Author with over 30 years of experience at the intersection of technology and the health industry. He is the Founder of SRW Laboratories, Cofounder of the Wellness Access Institute (WAI), and Founder of Pharmacy Direct, New Zealand’s leading online pharmacy.

Greg is a globally recognized expert on healthy aging whose work focuses on understanding cellular aging and developing formulations to support healthy aging and extend human healthspan. Throughout his career, Greg has been driven by a central theme of helping people overcome health challenges so that they can achieve their potential.

He founded one of the first online pharmacies in New Zealand and created the country’s first Government-licensed robotic dispensing facility. Greg founded SRW Laboratories in May 2020, a New Zealand biotechnology company that develops nutraceuticals targeting the hallmarks of aging. SRW, which stands for Science, Research, and Wellness, works with leading scientists to create nutritional supplements and epigenetic testing designed to help people age well by supporting their cells.

The company was the first to bring a product to market that targeted the hallmarks of aging as a strategy to slow the aging process. SRW’s Cellular System Range of nutraceuticals includes Cel¹ Stability, Cel² Nourishment, and Cel³ Renewal, which, when taken in combination, aim to support the body’s ability to address the nine identified hallmarks of aging. In 2024, SRW Laboratories completed the INiTIATE Trial, a 12-month clinical study demonstrating a mean biological age reduction of 5.71 years using the SystemsAge clock. The study, published in the Aging Journal, showed that participants who followed the Cel Protocol series of supplements combined with lifestyle modifications experienced both biological and physiological age reversal, emerging from the trial stronger, leaner, and lighter.

Greg is now leading a larger-scale global study involving 1,000 individuals between 35 and 85 years old as part of SRW’s participation in XPRIZE Healthspan, a seven-year global competition with US$101 million in prizes for solutions that revolutionize approaches to human aging. SRW is also collaborating with Insilico Medicine to use artificial intelligence to identify compounds that affect pathways linked to aging, creating next-generation versions of the firm’s existing products. Greg is the best-selling author of two books on longevity and healthy aging. His first book, Harnessing the Nine Hallmarks of Aging: To Live Your Healthiest Life, published in 2021, translates complex cellular aging science into an accessible handbook providing simple strategies to slow the aging process and build a functional longevity plan.

His second book, Age Less: Secrets of Living a Longer and Healthier Life, published in August 2024, explores the history of longevity and presents practical steps individuals can take to extend their healthspan, featuring 18 interviews with leading experts in the longevity research community. In June 2022, Greg cofounded the Wellness Access Institute (WAI) with Warren Liu. WAI is a nonprofit organization that positions itself as the leading authority and innovation accelerator in the wellness industry, focused on predicting the future of the industry, educating consumers on the science, addressing the trust deficit, and tackling issues with supply chain quality and speed to market.

Between February 2013 and December 2019, Greg served as CEO of MitoQ Ltd, a New Zealand-based biotech company specializing in mitochondrial supplements for enhancing healthspan. During his nearly seven years at MitoQ, the company conducted approximately US$60 million in research and tested its mitochondria-targeted antioxidant across over 90 different health conditions, establishing 39 global patents. Greg founded Pharmacy Direct Limited in June 1997, establishing New Zealand’s leading online pharmacy. Between June 1996 and March 2012, he served as Owner and Group Chief Operating Officer of the Pharmacy One Group of companies, comprising Pharmacy One Ltd, MPS New Zealand Ltd, and Pharmacy Direct Ltd. This group included New Zealand’s largest residential care services pharmacy and the country’s first robotic dispensing laboratory.

Between 2006 and January 2012, Greg was Executive Board Member and joint shareholder of Pharmacy @ The Warehouse, assisting with strategy, setup, and ongoing governance of this venture that housed pharmacies in one of New Zealand’s leading publicly listed retailing companies.

Greg earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from the University of Otago in 1992. Following graduation, he founded numerous businesses in the health industry, applying new technologies and platforms to the health sector to assist people in living healthier lives. His entrepreneurial journey has spanned online commerce, robotic dispensing services, pharmacy wholesale, and software development. Between October 2022 and August 2024, Greg served as Executive Council Member of BiotechNZ, contributing to New Zealand’s biotechnology industry advocacy and development.

Greg and SRW Laboratories have received numerous awards and recognitions for their work in cellular health and longevity. In November 2023, SRW Laboratories won the Best Emerging Business Award at the New Zealand International Business Awards, with judges praising the company’s accelerated growth, excellent execution of their market launch into China, impressive utilization of partnerships, and commercialization of research.

In 2023, SRW’s Msc¹ Tone product received the NutraIngredients-Asia Award for Product of the Year in the Sports Nutrition category. In 2025, SRW was named a NutraIngredients Healthspan Innovator, recognizing the company’s pioneering approach to targeting the hallmarks of aging.
