Curtis Pokrant
Curtis Pokrant is Founder and Product Lead of 009co, a data, analytics, and AI solutions consultancy incorporated in British Columbia in 2012, and a product operations and analytics leader with two decades of experience across enterprise, government, startup, and industrial organizations.
Through 009co, which he has run full time since 2023, Curtis designs and builds data products, AI-enabled applications, and analytics solutions from concept through implementation, including web and mobile applications, LLM chatbot and question-answering applications, retrieval-augmented generation solutions, data integrations, dashboards, and interactive visualizations, using technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Python, Flutter, the OpenAI API, and LlamaIndex.
His current independent products include GenomeVia, which transforms raw genetic information into biological insight by combining clinical evidence, functional analysis, population context, and pharmacogenomics, and CETAGPT, an AI-powered source of Canada–EU trade information and advice built around the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
From 2023 to 2025, he designed and ran FitSignals, an independent Fitbit data exploration product that gave beta users second-by-second access to intraday heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep staging, and activity patterns beyond the standard Fitbit application; he concluded the beta in November 2025 after completing the product build and evaluation.
Between 2022 and 2023, Curtis served on site in Saudi Arabia as Lead Business Intelligence Analyst at NEOM, the 26,500-square-kilometer development region in northwest Saudi Arabia, where he led the development of foundational business intelligence capabilities for the Energy and Water sector business partners of ENOWA, NEOM's energy and water company, as part of NEOM's Digital & AI team. He partnered with teams across finance, water-quality testing, wastewater treatment, and energy-demand modeling, and received a NEOM Thanna award in recognition of valued service.
In 2022, he led the development of network-operations business intelligence for Public Services and Procurement Canada, the Government of Canada's central purchasing agent, including senior-management reporting on remote-work VPN performance and return-to-office readiness. From 2021 to 2022, he partnered with the CFO of AutoFi, a US retail auto-finance technology startup, to establish automated corporate financial reporting capabilities.
From 2016 to 2019, Curtis served as lead business analyst and product owner for a new terminal-operations analytics stack at APM Terminals, the global container terminal operator, supporting analytics for more than 70 container terminals and corporate functions; he also served as a business intelligence subject-matter expert on a CFO-sponsored enterprise data-management initiative, delivered training to hundreds of employees, and completed an eight-month secondment at the company's Netherlands head office.
In 2016, he implemented a business intelligence infrastructure to support operational change in aircraft seat manufacturing at Zodiac Aerospace, and between 2015 and 2016, he developed analytical models of reservoir water elevations to support BC Hydro boat-ramp design and construction projects.
Between 2014 and 2015, he served in the program-management organization supporting the approximately $300 million annual broadband fiber-optic deployment program at TELUS, where he improved program-wide rolling forecasts and established the PMO's first Tableau site.
From 2013 to 2014, at Online Business Systems, he supported business intelligence systems for a 15,000-agent contact-center operation generating approximately 800,000 call events daily, managing Oracle data warehouses containing fact tables with more than 400 million records.
Between 2008 and 2012, Curtis worked in a multi-year consulting role with HSBC Canada's Retail Credit Solutions organization, creating the central mortgage adjudication group's first integrated business intelligence capability, with solutions used daily by more than 70 staff and supporting the processing of more than 30,000 mortgage and loan applications representing approximately CAD $1 billion annually. During this period, he also provided business and data analysis supporting BC Hydro's divestment of four municipal drinking-water systems.
Between 2006 and 2008, he held a business intelligence leadership role at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, New Zealand's trade-development and promotion agency, where he developed the Americas division's first integrated BI system, supported more than 10 countries and offices and over 70 trade and foreign-investment representatives, delivered in-person training across the United States, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico, and relocated to the Wellington head office to support the global rollout of expanded tools and business processes.
Curtis earned his BSc in Biology, with a major in Marine Biology and Oceanography, from The University of British Columbia and completed the Foundations of Management of Technology program at Simon Fraser University.
He holds 16 licenses and certifications, including the Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate credential earned in 2024, the Google Project Management certificate from Google Career Certificates earned in 2023, the Certified Scrum Product Owner credential from Scrum Alliance earned in 2021, and a series of DeepLearning.AI deep learning and TensorFlow Developer certificates earned between 2020 and 2021.
