Brian M. Delaney, M.A.

Brian M. Delaney, M.A. is the President of the Age Reversa Network, President of the Society for Age Reversal, and for more than 23 years, the President and the Founder of Calorie Restriction Society International.

He has published a book on calorie restriction and longevity, with Lisa Walford, The Longevity Diet: Discover Calorie Restriction—the Only Proven Way to Slow the Aging Process and Maintain Peak Vitality in 2005, and with their 2nd edition in 2010 The Longevity Diet: The Only Proven Way to Slow the Aging Process and Maintain Peak Vitality Through Caloric Restriction, as well as numerous articles on aging and life-extension. He appeared in the 2010 Documentary How To Live Forever.

Brian is a philosopher, author, and translator, who also helps scientists move from concept to initial company formation, and is a cofounder and partner of the venture capital company Emergency Longevity Ventures.

He recently became president of the Society for Age Reversal in order to help advance research into very near-term solutions to the problem of aging, and to make existing treatments of age-related conditions more widely available. He lectures frequently, focusing on recent research findings and how they can be applied today to our health maintenance and age-reversal regimens.

Brian founded the Usenet group sci.life-extension, which now continues to be active in the Google Group with the same name.

His earliest research was in artificial intelligence, working first with Paul Cohen at the University of Massachusetts, then as an undergraduate with Eugene Charniak at Brown University. After early, formative years studying science, Brian turned largely towards the humanities in his post-secondary education. He earned a B.A. in music from Brown University, earned a master’s degree in sociology from the University of California at Berkeley, and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Chicago, working on a dissertation on nineteenth-century German philosophy.

His ventures in the past included English Proper, a translation company; The Infinite Faculty, an online university, web design firm, and rock band; and Die Grosse Liebe, an exhibition and film based on the principle that love is “a powerful force” (he and his collaborator, Åsa Elzén, embarked on a world tour in 2003–04 to visit former lovers on several continents).

Brian is also one of the founding members of the Swedish Hegel Society (Svenska Hegelsällskapet), and is on the editorial board of Site Magazine. His articles for Site have focused on German philosophy as well as on European attitudes towards the U.S.

He has translated a number of texts in philosophy, including (with Sven-Olov Wallenstein), the Swedish translation of G.W.F. Hegel’s Phänomenologie des Geistes (in Swedish: Andens Fenomenologi, in English: Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit) which was published in September, 2008. His translation of Den andra födan (English: As a Weasel Sucks Eggs), by Daniel Birnbaum and Anders Olsson, was published by Sternberg Press in October, 2008.

In April 2009, the Swedish Academy awarded him a special honor for his work on the translation of the Phenomenology of Spirit.

Brian has lived in New York City, Stockholm, Sweden, and Florida, USA.
