Seal of Approval

The second edition of our book "The Human Race to the Future: What Could Happen — and What to Do" received the Seal of Approval from the Washington Academy of Sciences.

You can learn more about this Seal of Approval at http://www.washacadsci.org/activities-a...pproval/

You can read our book at http://amzn.to/1cujxeG

The Washington Academy of Sciences is looking for more books to consider for their Seal of Approval. If you have authored a science-heavy book that you think would pass a rigorous scientific review, send Peg Kay an email at [email protected] with the subject "Lifeboat Foundation Seal of Approval".

Into the Cloud Update

In the March 2014 edition of Lifeboat News we talked about our new cloud setup which had 75 times as much bandwidth as our old dedicated server setup.

At the suggestion of our Chris Haley (and with his help), we have now taken advantage of advancements in technology and have "downgraded" our Linode plan to a new plan that costs half as much as our old Linode plan but has twice the bandwidth of that plan. So we now have 150 times as much bandwidth as our old dedicated server setup! (We are also now based on SSDs instead of hard drives.)

By the way, if you happen to be a customer of Linode note that their estimated times to change your setup to a new plan are wildly off. For example, we were quoted 18 minutes on moving our setup to a new location and it actually took only 3 minutes.
