Nicolò Vivori, MSc
Nicolò Vivori, MSc is the Lab and Quality Manager at Chindet.
At Chindet since 2023, Nicolò has been responsible for quality control of detergent products through chemical-physical analysis to determine their specifications. He prepares COA (certificates of analysis) and manages SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), and SDS (Safety Data Sheet). He also manages non-compliance and correction/new uses of products, tests and analyzes samples for new production, and conducts laboratory maintenance. Read The charm of biotechnology? Previously, in 2023, Nicolò was the Study Director for in vitro toxicology studies at Aptuit, an Evotec company, located in Verona. He wrote protocols, followed the studies in compliance with GLP and OECD guidelines, analyzed data, and wrote reports. The main studies he followed were the Ames Test, Micronucleus in vivo and in vitro, and Phototoxicity Test. Moreover, he developed a centromeric labeling followup study to distinguish between aneugens and clastogens.
In 2024, Nicolò was appointed by YAS as the Young Ambassador and Italian Delegate for the Youth G7 (Y7), the official youth engagement group of the G7 — under Italy’s 2024 Presidency. He participated in the WFF flagship event, held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome.
In 2023, he was Horizon Europe Young Observer for the European Commission. He observed the work of independent experts evaluating proposals and had the unique opportunity to experience how the EU budget for Horizon Europe is used. He played a pivotal role in testing this new initiative giving feedback to the European Commission.
Nicolò earned his Master’s Degree of Science in Molecular and Medical Biotechnology with honors at the University of Verona in 2023.
As Research Fellow in Biotechnology, he did his thesis research at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in the lab of Professor Liron Bar-Peled in Boston, USA. The research was focused on YAP1, a transcription factor overexpressed in a lot of cancers, which they tried to target with small-molecule covalent inhibitors. Thanks to this internship, Nicolò learned laboratory skills such as western blot, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA purification, molecular cloning, base editing, tissue culture, flow cytometry, mass spectroscopy, drug screening, and virus infection.
In 2020, Nicolò earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Biomolecular Sciences and Technology at the University of Trento. His work on a thesis was about a liposomal vector specific for cancer cells, for which he was awarded the “Carla Russo” title for “best thesis for health profession”.
As he had just graduated in July 2020, the SARS-Cov-2 pandemic struck, and Nicolò took it as an opportunity to work as a researcher at CiBIO (UniTN) analyzing saliva samples of COVID-19, improving his skills while helping the community. He joined a diagnostic lab and dived into sample preparation, RNA extraction, Real-Time PCR, and data analysis. Nicolò has also been selected as one of the top 10 Italian talents with the highest potential in Healthcare & Life Sciences for the Nova 111 Student List 2023.
