Professor Nadezhda Gaponenko
Nadezhda Gaponenko, Ph.D. is
Head of Department, The Institute for the Study of Science of the
Russian Academy of Sciences;
Director of the Russian Office of the Millennium Project; and
Professor of The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and
Public Administration.
Nadezhda has 25 years experience in futures studies, S&T policy,
innovation & environmental policy for government, international
organizations, and private sector. She is the author of over 10 monographs,
and over 100 articles published in Russian, English, and German.
She coordinated and contributed to about 100 projects
carried out for Russian and international organizations (OECD, UNEP,
UNESCO, World Water Counsel, Millennium project). She was the organizer,
chair of sessions, and key speaker at many Russian and international
conferences (France, Australia, U.S., the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain,
Hungary, Finland, Germany, Japan, Belgium, and the like).

Nadezhda earned her B.A. in Economics at the Moscow Institute of Management
in 1978 and her Ph.D. in Economics at the Institute of Economic Problems
of National Economics Complex Development of Moscow in 1984. Her
doctoral thesis was in the domain of S&T long-term forecasting.
