Jeff Smith, M.S.

Jeff Smith, M.S. is Project Manager at Ball Aerospace, Advocate at Space Frontier Foundation, Speaker and Exhibitor at STEAMSPACE Education Outreach, Member and Cohost of Strategic Partnerships Committee at Colorado Space Business Roundtable, and Mentor at Techstars.

As a Material Control Analyst, Jeff manages the planning and execution of the material procurement process including providing visibility for program leadership and exception planning throughout multiple programs.

Previously, Jeff also worked as Supervisor at the Saratoga Casino, as Financial Consultant at TIAA, Broker at Fidelity Investments, and Asset Manager at J.P. Morgan.

Before getting into the financial business, Jeff worked for several years in the US Air Force as a Logistic Readiness Officer between 2007 and 2012.

In 2017 and 2018, Jeff hosted and organized Startup Space at the SATELLITE 2017 & 2018 Conference on behalf of the Space Frontier Foundation.

Between 2014 and 2016, he helped the Space Finance Group with the creation and editing of the Integrated Space Plan 2015 & 2017 editions. The ISP is a visual representation of major space infrastructure elements of the past, present, and future including NASA and the commercial sector to show a detailed timeline of our future in space for the next 100 years.

He served five years in the US Air Force as a Logistics Readiness Officer.

Jeff earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Communications from California State University in 2007 and his Master’s Degree of Science in Space Systems Operations Management from Webster University in 2011. His thesis paper was presented at AIAA SPACE 2011 entitled Could Air Force Space Command benefit from commercial space companies like Virgin Galactic, XCOR, SpaceX, and Bigelow Aerospace?

Jeff is currently studying Space Resources at the Colorado School of Mines.

Jeff is an annual guest speaker at the Cities in Space Student Conference & Competition in Austin TX, he helped the Education Outreach & Workforce Development committee for AIAA’s ASCEND Conference, and is on the National Space Society’s Space Ambassador Committee.

He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics since 2009, the National Space Society since 2011, and the Space Frontier Foundation since 2015.
