Dr. Georgios Mitrou

Georgios Mitrou, MD, MPhD, MSc is an Internal Medicine Consultant-Diabetologist-Gerontologist at AIMIS Healthcare Group in Limassol, Cyprus, and Scientific Collaborator-Instructor at European University Cyprus with over 20 years of experience in hospital and healthcare management. He serves as Chairman of the Medical Committee for the European Society of Preventive, Regenerative and Anti-aging Medicine (ESAAM) and holds positions as Board Member and Research Fellow of the International Longevity Alliance.

Georgios is recognized for his expertise in diabetes management, hypertension treatment, geriatric medicine, and pioneering work in integrating regenerative medicine with traditional clinical practice.

Since December 2022, Georgios has served as Integrative Health Systems Physician and Medical Consultant at BioViva USA, focusing on gene therapy research and development in regenerative medicine and anti-aging therapies. In September 2022, he joined AIMIS Healthcare Group as Internal Medicine Consultant, where he has become a valuable asset to their medical team, bringing extensive experience in diabetology and gerontology.

As Scientific Collaborator-Instructor at European University Cyprus since February 2023, he contributes to medical education in general therapeutics. His recent appointments demonstrate his commitment to integrative medicine approaches. Since 2024, Georgios has served as Medical Consultant and Member of the International Scientific Society of Oxygen-Ozone Therapy (ISCO3), implementing protocols for antimicrobial treatment and inflammation reduction. In July 2024, he obtained his Diplomate of PDA Board Certificate from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) through Miridia Acupuncture Technology Inc., specializing in Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and auriculotherapy.

He also holds Board Member and Research Fellow positions at the International Longevity Alliance since 2023, focusing on clinical research and medical education in gerontology and functional medicine. Since November 2022, he has served as Internal Medicine Consultant-Diabetologist-Gerontologist at Royal Artemis Hospital in Paphos, Cyprus.

Georgios’s career includes significant leadership positions in Cyprus healthcare. From 2019 to 2021, he served as Medical Director of the Internal Medicine and Diabetes Department at Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, where he also chaired the Hospital Infections Committee. In July 2022, he briefly held the position of Co-Ordinator Medical Director at AEMY S.A. (Health Units S.A.) under the Ministry of Health of the Hellenic Republic. Between 2018 and 2019, he worked as Senior Consultant Medical Doctor at the Hellenic National Health Operations Centre (ΕΚΕΠΥ). His international experience includes serving as Internal Medicine Hospitalist at Al Iman General Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October to December 2017, where he consulted at the Al Iman Diabetes Centre.

His research contributions span multiple areas of internal medicine and gerontology. Georgios presented An Unusual Presentation of Mesenteric Panniculitis-Case Report at the 11th International Congress of Internal Medicine in Athens in July 2021. His publication Prevalence of Hypertension and Associated Factors Among Residents in Cyprus appeared in the International Journal of Diabetes & Metabolic Disorders in August 2021. Earlier research includes “Prevalence of Vitamin D Deficiency in Older Adults aged 65 years and Older” presented at the 6th International Congress of Internal Medicine of Central Greece in March 2014.

Georgios earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Università degli Studi ‘Gabriele d’Annunzio’ di Chieti in Italy in 2002, graduating at age 26. He earned his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Gerontology from the University of Southampton in 2011, along with a Postgraduate Certificate in Gerontology.

In February 2022, he obtained his Certified Diabetologist title under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Health. He completed his secondary education at 18 High School in Athens from 1991 to 1994, specializing in medicine. Georgios has also completed certified training in “Excellence in Thrombosis” in December 2021 and an “Executive Personal Assistant-Advanced” seminar through e-careers between October 2018 and February 2019.

Since 2023, he has served as Chairman of the ESAAM Medical Committee for the 2023–2027 term, focusing on preventive, regenerative, and anti-aging medicine. He became a Member of the European Atherosclerosis Society in June 2023, contributing to cardiovascular disease prevention research. His membership in the Cypriot National Centre of Gerontology since June 2021 supports national health strategy development for elderly populations. Since June 2022, he has served as Counselor to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, developing the National Health Strategy for the Elderly.

Georgios has received several certifications expanding his therapeutic capabilities. In June 2024, he obtained his Level 1 Certification in Oxygen-Ozone Therapy from SIOOT. In April 2024, he became a Scientific Collaborator and Partner with Fagron Genomics for Personalizing Medicine, focusing on genomic testing for disease risk identification. His professional development includes memberships in multiple international societies, including the International Medical Society of Longevity Medicine and the Centre for Healthy Longevity at the National University of Singapore. He was an invited speaker at the 9th Aging and Gerontology Conference in Dubai, UAE.

Born in Athens, Greece, on April 25, 1975, Georgios brings multilingual capabilities to his practice, speaking Greek (native), English (full professional proficiency), and Italian (fluent). His medical office specializes in comprehensive care including gestational diabetes, familial hypercholesterolemia, bone metabolism disorders, infectious diseases management, and newer biotechnological methods of regenerative medicine.
