Professor Eden Mamut
Eden Mamut, Ph.D. is Professor of Engineering Thermodynamics and Advanced Energy Systems and Director of the Institute for Nanotechnologies & Alternative Energy Sources at Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania.
He is Senior Researcher at the 3NanoSAE Research Center at the University of Bucharest, Secretary General of the Black Sea Universities Network, Member of the Consultative Council for Sustainable Development, and Responsible for SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.
Eden’s main field of research is Multi-Scale Thermo-Fluid Modeling, Analysis and Optimization of Complex Energy Systems, Renewable Energy Sources, Sustainable Transport Systems, and Multi-Criteria & Multi-Scale Methods on Sustainable Development.

He is exploring the Integration of Nanostructured Materials in Energy Conversion Solutions and the Multiscale Engineering of Energy Systems. His research interests also include Automotive Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. One of his latest publications is Graphene Structures Engineered for Selective Absorption/Desorption and Permeability Applications.
In April 2024, SDSN launched a New National Network in Romania where Eden became the Co-Chair of their Sustainable Development Solutions Network Romania.
Since 2020, Eden has been a member of the National Consultative Council for Sustainable Development, under the General Secretariat of the Romanian Government, being responsible for Sustainable Development Goal 7 “Clean Energy”.
Eden is a World Academy of Art and Science Fellow (2023) and a member of multiple prestigious organizations. These include the European Technical Committee CEN/CLC/JTC 6 Hydrogen in Energy Systems (since 2019), the ECHA Expert Group on Nanomaterials (since 2019), the Scientific Council of the International Centre of Heat and Mass Transfer (since 2008), and the Technical and Scientific Committee of the Romanian Association of Water (since 2013). He has also served as the Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Cluster MEDGreen, specializing in ecotechnologies and alternative energy sources in Romania, since 2015.
Previously, he was the Chair of the Scientific Committee of Fuel Cell & Hydrogen – Joint Undertaking (FCH2JU), Brussels, between 2015 and 2017.
His achievements include 95 papers, 12 books (as author or editor), 2 registered patents (Germany), and 1 registered patent (Romania).
He was recognized with honorary professorships at Zaporozhye National Technical University in 2015 and Crimean Engineering & Pedagogical University in 2010. Eden also received the Knight of the National Order “Star of Romania” in 2000.
Eden earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 from the “Lower Danube” University of Galați, Romania. He earned his Engineer’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
