is President of the
Institute of Exponential Sciences, as well as a student of several
disciplines. He’s been interested in science, particularly astronomy and
biology, from a very young age. His greatest passions are cognitive
augmentation and life extension, two endeavors he remains deeply
committed to to this day. He is also especially interested in
applications of augmented reality and hyperreality, which he believes
have incredible potential for improving our lives.
Demian strongly believes in interdisciplinarity, and his studies span artificial intelligence, innovation science and business, which he studies at the University of Utrecht. He also has a background in psychology, which he previously studied at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences. He is an entrepreneur, having founded Almagest Accesoires, a Dutch startup. He believes that raising capital and investing in technology and education is the best route to facilitate change. He is also a proponent of LGBT rights and postgenderism. He believes advanced technologies can eventually provide a definite solution for sex-related issues in society.
In 2011, he cofounded the Arma’thwynn society, a Dutch student grou= p of young academics with a techno-positive outlook interested in improving the human condition. In 2015, he was elected president of the Institute of Exponential Sciences, which was founded by ex-members of said society as part of a pull to move beyond student politics and professionalize the organization. As president of the board, he has managed the organization of several lectures and various events in the Netherlands. Demian has given several lectures about technology, ethics, and future studies at several different locations. He is also a regular panelist at the futurism debates hosted by The Rational Argumentator and is an administrator and science auditor for Singularity Network.
