Anthony Galima

Anthony Galima is a Business Anthropologist, Blockchain Educator, UX/UI Designer, and Director of Business Anthropology, a Community Ambassador for Polkadot, and an Honorary Advisory Board Member of the International Journal of Business Anthropology, with over 25 years of experience in business anthropology, blockchain technology, cybersecurity, and digital marketing.

He is a technology and cultural expert who pioneered and defined the discipline of Business Anthropology, applying anthropological concepts and methods to help companies better understand their customers, employees, and communities. Anthony is also the Founder of Hard Fork News, a cryptocurrency and blockchain news platform.

As Director of Business Anthropology since 2019, Anthony conducts comprehensive research on blockchain protocols, networking, and security to identify challenges and opportunities for innovation. He designs and develops scalable and secure solutions for protocol networking, collaborates with engineering teams to implement solutions for various blockchain protocols, and contributes to the open-source community.

Anthony writes articles for the Business Anthropology Blog and Hard Fork News that explain complex blockchain technologies and solutions in an accessible manner. He has been instrumental in defining Business Anthropology as a corporate entity, crystallizing the discipline in the late 1990s, when it was still undefined, and evolving it from scattered concepts such as “Anthropology of Work” and “Industrial Anthropology” into a standalone field. Anthony developed the Socio Agile methodology, a unique framework that combines the principles of Agile practices with the insights of Developer Intelligence and Business Anthropology. Socio Agile aims to strengthen communication, collaboration, and alignment within Web3, crypto, and blockchain companies by integrating effective communication across technical and nontechnical teams, grounded in an understanding of diverse social dynamics within organizations. He also created DigiScape, a proprietary service that helps prune, suppress, and delete potential threats from a corporation’s or an individual’s digital footprint.

Since 2020, Anthony has served as a Community Ambassador for Polkadot, an open-source project founded by the Web3 Foundation that enables cross-blockchain transfers of any type of data or asset. He is the Founder of South Florida’s Polkadot Community of Educators and Experts, organizing monthly events at Business Anthropology’s corporate headquarters covering Web 3.0, Blockchain, and Cryptocurrency.

Anthony founded Hard Fork News in 2016 as a cryptocurrency and blockchain news platform that delivers facts, figures, and data rather than editorialized opinions. Hard Fork News operates on TikTok with daily 60-second news flashes followed by live educational sessions and maintains a curated news feed on Telegram.

Anthony is the author of several books, including The Making and Unmaking of the Modern World: Business Anthropology, which explores the impact of technological advancements on society, the erosion of the family unit, and the importance of self-awareness in navigating the modern world.

He also authored The A, B, C’s of Crypto: The Only Crypto Book You Need, an interactive guide with tasks and worksheets covering cryptocurrency from Bitcoin to DeFi, as well as Cryptocurrency Inspired Cars For Kids, a children’s book written and illustrated using artificial intelligence that teaches cryptocurrency concepts through cars.

Between August 2016 and February 2019, Anthony served as a Behavioral Detection Federal Officer and Acting Lead at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. He held a Behavioral Detection Officer Certification, specializing in understanding the differences between cultural norms, mental disorders, and irregular and criminal behavior.

He participated in classified undercover security vulnerability tests, conducted metal shield and credential audits, and contributed solutions to Homeland Security’s Idea Factory that were recommended for implementation on a national level.

Between April 2006 and April 2016, Anthony was the CEO, UX/UI Designer & Marketing Director, Data Analyst, and Technical Writer at Unity 4 Humanity in Smithtown, New York. At Unity 4 Humanity, he created software and code that produced SEO URL language-like domain name extensions called “The Language of Domain Names,” pioneered Dot TV domain names and high-definition video streaming Internet Broadcasting Channels, and developed sophisticated Content Management Systems supporting multiple languages.

He studied how cultural and demographic climates affect technological shifts and trends, and monetized web traffic through B2B, PPC, and Affiliate Marketing Campaigns.

Before founding Unity 4 Humanity, Anthony was a Corporate Account Executive, International Contract Negotiator, and Technical Writer at IBI – Istituto Biochimico Italiano Giovanni Lorenzini S.p.A. in Aprilia, Italy, between January 2005 and February 2006. At IBI, he maintained existing clientele in Europe and the Americas while expanding pharmaceutical sales in the Far East, the Middle East, and Latin America. He also worked with doctors, scientists, and medical researchers on clinical trial dossiers from creation to successful completion and submission.

Between August 2000 and December 2004, Anthony was the Service Department Chair and Account Executive at New York Fire Detection in Port Washington, New York, where he initiated, created, and led the New York Fire Service division, ensuring all NFPA and life safety standards were met.

Anthony earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in English and his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Anthropology from William & Mary in 2000, completing both degrees in three years. He also studied abroad at University College, Oxford during the fall semester, participating in the Advanced Studies in England Program with a focus on English Language and Literature.

He holds an Agile Product Lifecycle Management 9 Certified Implementation Specialist certification from Metrix Learning and a CompTIA Project+ certification from Skillsoft, both issued in 2022.

Since 2006, Anthony has been an Honorary Advisory Board Member of the International Journal of Business Anthropology. a double peer-reviewed journal published by the North American Business Press that showcases an exchange of ideas between scholars, practitioners, and industry experts from around the globe.

Anthony was a Finalist and Top Vote-Getter in the #Innovation category at the 3rd Annual Shorty Awards in 2011, and a Finalist and Top Vote-Getter in the #Author category at the 4th Annual Shorty Awards in 2012. He leads a South Florida e-Commerce Mentorship Program and Blockchain Club for high school students, teaching them how to build successful and viable online businesses before graduation and how to position themselves within the evolving digital financial system. He has been a long-time volunteer with Feeding America since 1994 and a Donor and Promoter for Hope Children’s Fund since 1996.
