Mohammed (Mo) Abouelsoud is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of U: The Mind Company, a Cleveland-based neurotechnology company developing non-invasive brain stimulation devices for neurological conditions and cognitive wellness. He is a computational neuroscientist whose work centers on amplitude-modulated transcranial electrical stimulation, EEG signal analysis, and computational modeling of brain dynamics.
Mo has led U: The Mind Company as Chief Executive Officer since 2018. The company designs precision neuromodulation devices for Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurological disorders, delivering optimized electrical pulses through scalp electrodes to modulate brain networks and promote neuroplasticity. Its proprietary approach, amplitude-modulated transcranial pulsed random noise stimulation (am-tPRNS), reverses the polarity of pulsed current over time to engage both hemispheres and reduce neuronal adaptation.
Mo assembled a team of more than thirty researchers, engineers, and clinicians drawn from Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, MIT, and The Ohio State University, and the company reports over two million treatment minutes and more than 250 study participants across four countries with no serious adverse events recorded.

Mo is the corresponding author of Comparative Effects of Three Novel Transcranial Electric Stimulation Protocols on Tremor and UPDRS-8 Scores, a randomized controlled study of 26 Parkinson’s patients conducted at Medicare Hospital in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and posted as a preprint in March 2026. The study found mean improvements in MDS-UPDRS-8 scores between 19 and 26 percent across three stimulation protocols, with individual responses reaching a 64.3 percent improvement and tremor-band power reductions of up to 77 percent.
He coauthored Frontal Lobe Electrical Stimulation Enhances Connectivity in Alzheimer’s Disease Networks: Evidence from rs-fMRI, a peer-reviewed chapter published in 2024 in New Insights in Brain-Computer Interface Systems, which documented substantial increases in hippocampal and temporal-pole activation in five Alzheimer’s patients after a twelve-week stimulation protocol.
He also coauthored The biological basis of Parkinson’s disease: A comprehensive review in the International Journal of Science and Research Archive and Case Report of Transcranial Pulsed-Current Stimulation with Parkinson’s Disease in Clinical and Experimental Psychology.
Mo is a named inventor on several United States patents assigned to U, LLC. He is the sole inventor of Neural stimulation device, which describes electrode arrays that steer current between opposing pairs so that a target region receives suprathreshold stimulation while surrounding tissue does not.
With David J. Mishelevich, he holds Generating voltage-gradient geometries in biological tissue and Transcranial electrical stimulation using poly-modulated waveforms, the latter covering pathway optimization algorithms and digital-twin modeling for closed-loop neuromodulation.
A further application, AI-powered EEG system with pathway hierarchical adaptive referencing for localized detection, automated reporting, and IoMT-enabled adaptive neuromodulation, integrates large language models for automated EEG reporting with Internet of Medical Things connectivity.
Through Circle of Hope, the company’s global access program, Mo has directed clinician training, device donations, and research partnerships in underserved regions, with programs in Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Mo earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from The Ohio State University in 2019, one in Applied Physics and one in Computational Neuroscience. Between 2017 and 2018, he was an Assistant Researcher in the Neuromodulation Data Analysis lab at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he worked on diffusion tensor imaging connectivity maps using MATLAB and FSL.
In 2018, he served as a Research Assistant at Ohio State on a Department of Energy sponsored project, synthesizing DNA-gold nanoparticle conjugates for fluorescence measurement.
Between 2017 and 2018, he was President and Cofounder of The Global Design Mission, a student accelerator at Ohio State focused on biomimetic product design, and in 2018, he was Chief Executive Officer and Cofounder of Tremo, a quantitative patient-tracking service for clinicians and pharmaceutical companies.
In 2018, he took first place at Ohio State’s Brain Health Hack-O-Thon for a tremor-detection application built to quantify treatment response. He volunteered at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2018 and, between 2017 and 2019, with residents living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease at a Columbus care community.
Mo founded U: The Mind Company after his own experience with bipolar disorder led him to study the neurostimulation literature and build a prototype device, an origin story he has discussed publicly. His current work joins clinical neurology to human performance research, spanning sleep, stress physiology, metabolic health, and neurostimulation as a single system.
