Dr. Arseniy Trukhanov

Arseniy Trukhanov, PhD, is President of the European Society of Preventive, Regenerative and Anti-Aging Medicine (ESAAM), Cofounder and Chairman of the Board of the National Academy of Active Longevity, and Chief Scientific Specialist at the Federal Research and Clinical Center of Resuscitation and Rehabilitation (FNKC RR) in Moscow.

A Doctor of Biology with a PhD in medical engineering, he has spent five decades bridging biomedical engineering, restorative medicine, and the science of healthy longevity, and is a recognized specialist in restorative and aesthetic medicine, rehabilitation, and digital aging technologies.

Founded in Paris in 2003, ESAAM is the umbrella organization for national and European clinical and research associations in preventive, regenerative, and anti-aging medicine. Arseniy served as the society's Vice-President beginning in 2014 and was elected President in October 2019, having led the preparation of its anti-aging congresses in Athens in 2015, St. Petersburg in 2016, Milan in 2018, Cyprus in 2019, and Dubai in 2020.

Under ESAAM's aegis, Arseniy has coedited two reference volumes for the field. With Mike K.S. Chan and our Vittorio Calabrese, he produced the 562-page Handbook of Anti-Aging Medicine in 2022, written with colleagues from Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

With Mike K.S. Chan and Yuriy Nalapko, he followed it in 2024 with Handbook on Longevity Medicine: The Road Map, the second volume in the society's publication series with the European Wellness Academy, offering practical life-extension protocols across thirteen chapters spanning immune aging, hormetic nutrients, aging measurement, and cell and molecular therapies.

Arseniy's current research centers on digital biomarkers of aging. Publishing through the Mriya Life Institute of the National Academy of Active Longevity, he has coauthored a series of studies with the Institute of Biogerontology and the Artificial Intelligence Research Center at Lobachevsky State University in Nizhny Novgorod, working alongside Claudio Franceschi, our Alexey Moskalev, Mikhail Ivanchenko, Alena Kalyakulina, and Igor Yusipov.

The team developed EpInflammAge, an explainable deep-learning clock that integrates epigenetic and inflammatory markers into a disease-sensitive biological age predictor, mapped epigenetic age acceleration across 25 countries and 31 ethnicities, and characterized inflammaging in the extremely cold climate of Yakutia.

The collaboration extends to explainable machine learning for clinical medicine, including models for glioma subtype classification, all-cause mortality risk in type 2 diabetes, and — with Alexey Zaikin of University College London — graph neural networks predicting prostate cancer progression.

The Mriya Life Institute, an active-longevity medical cluster on Crimea's southern coast offering more than 250 preventive, diagnostic, and anti-age services, anchors this clinical research base, and Arseniy heads its Research and Development Center for Healthy Longevity. The National Academy of Active Longevity he cofounded unites preventive-medicine specialists around education, laboratory research, consulting, and 5P medicine, building on methods its team has developed since 1998.

In 2010, Arseniy proposed the Concept of the Active Longevity Clinic, first implemented at the Longway 80/120 wellness center. From 2012 to 2015, he was CEO of the Active Longevity Clinic Institut Krasoty na Arbate (the Beauty Institute on Arbat) in Moscow, where his team published clinical research on oxidative stress in obesity and metabolic syndrome and on electromagnetic hypersensitivity.

Between 2018 and 2019, he served as Scientific Director and CEO of the Lancette anti-age clinic, built on the principles of 4P medicine. At FNKC RR, he coauthored a Biogerontology study demonstrating that regular respiratory training under hypercapnic hypoxia extended the lifespan of mice by 16 percent while improving cognitive and physical function in old age. Arseniy graduated in 1976 from the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics as a specialist in computer design. He earned his PhD in medical engineering in 1983 in the Department of Medical Ultrasound at the All-Union Medical Engineering & Research Institute, with research on the acoustic properties of biological tissues, and studied under academician Nikolay Agadzhanyan, a specialist in the physiology of space and aviation medicine. In 2007, he earned his Doctor of Biology degree from the National Research Center of Restoration and Rehabilitation Medicine (VVRM).

Beyond ESAAM and the National Academy of Active Longevity, Arseniy has chaired the National Association of Restoration and Rehabilitation Medicine, served as President of the Russian Doppler Club, contributed to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe working group on digital imaging, and is the official representative of Russia in the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM). He is a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.

A frequent keynote speaker, Arseniy delivered The Road Map of Anti-Aging Medicine in Europe: 2030 at the second Mediterranean Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine in 2022, appearing alongside our Ilia Stambler and our Vittorio Calabrese, and presented The Handbook on Healthy Longevity: The Road Map at the 2024 Longevity Nation conference organized by Israel's Vetek Association.
