Nick Meagher
Nick Meagher is a Cloud Security Consultant at the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, Account Executive at Boomi, and Columnist for Brussels Morning. He is an award-winning cloud cyber security consultant with his insights spanning computer science, finance, and media communications.
Nick has worked with prominent companies such as Microsoft, AWS, Paramount Global, Hitachi, and Canon. He is certified in cloud architectures, networking, data privacy, cryptography, complex systems science, nuclear technologies, and cryptocurrency engineering.
At Boomi since 2024, Nick has worked with companies valued between $350M and $1B on integration, data governance, and AI implementation.
As Web3 Committee Advisor at the Canadian Blockchain Consortium, he advises on developing and using blockchain technologies with the country’s peak industry body. Members include Coinbase, Elliptic, Deloitte, Ciphertrace, and more.
Nick is building a startup that applies fundamental investing principles to low-market-capitalization blockchain projects. He analyzes disruptive use cases using a deep understanding of consensus, tokenomics, and L2s.
Nick is passionate about dispelling the convenient yet ultimately limiting metaphor of blockchain as currency by explaining use cases that decentralize through functional media. By dispelling this myth, he hopes to enhance the popular understanding of blockchain’s true potential.
Nick is a Member of the Royal Society of New South Wales, the Association for Computing Machinery’s SIGSAC and SIGHPC professional groups, the University of Oxford Physics Society, and the Oxford Artificial Intelligence Society. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (The RSA) and the Royal Statistical Society (RSS).
Nick maintains strong interests in various intersecting domains between enterprise, art, science, manufacturing, and commerce.
Previously, between 2022 and 2024, Nick worked as a Cloud Security Consultant at Zscaler, conducting deep technical and market research to drive new business, build new partnerships, and facilitate complex end-to-end SaaS deals.
Before Zscaler, between 2019 and 2022, Nick was Portfolio Manager at 3-Sphere Capital, managing a profitable fund of diversified assets through complex portfolio construction and risk management techniques.
He was also Integration Manager at Viacom International Media Networks GSA in Amsterdam for two years until 2019, where he led cross-departmental collaboration to ensure timely execution of all assets comprising 24/7 channel flow for Comedy Central Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, and VIVA Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
Nick graduated in Communication and Media Studies from Macquarie University in 2014.
Throughout the years, he has been continually expanding his skill set. He earned various certifications, including Cryptocurrency Engineering and Design (MIT), Cryptography & Data Privacy (Ruhr University Bochum), Epistemological Emergence (Santa Fe Institute), and Foundry Foundations (Palantir Technologies).
Nick also recently got certified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Nuclear Reactor Design, International Legal Framework for Nuclear Security, Cyber Threats to Nuclear Security IAEA, and Nuclear Fuel Design, Fabrication, Surveillance, and Qualification IAEA.
