Lyn Ulbricht
Lyn Ulbricht is Activist, Public Speaker,
CEO
Ross Ulbricht Defense Effort, and Guest lecturer University of
Southern California.
Lyn is a political activist and well-known advocate for constitutional
protections, individual freedom, and privacy. She is also the mother of
Ross Ulbricht, who is currently serving a double life sentence without
parole for all non-violent charges, based on his role in the Silk Road
website. This was a “dark web” site, rooted in free market
principles,
where people the world over traded bitcoin for a variety of goods — both
legal and illegal.
Having seen her only son incarcerated for life after a strongly
contested trial and investigation rife with proven corruption, Lyn
is dedicated to fighting for his rights, as well as the rights
of the thousands who have been victimized by our flawed criminal justice
system and the drug war. She strives to direct awareness to the
important precedents being set with this high profile case, issues that
will impact the freedom and privacy of all Americans in the burgeoning
digital age.
Lyn has spoken at numerous events, both in the US and Europe; appeared
on a range of TV, radio, and podcast shows, including Reason TV, CNN,
HuffPost Live, and Fox; and conducted many interviews with both major and
alternative media, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal,
Forbes, and The Guardian. She is also prominently featured in the
documentary
Deep Web and is
a guest lecturer at University of Southern California.
When not working to raise awareness, Lyn focuses on raising funds for
Ross’s appeal through
www.freeross.org.
