Dr. Dobri Kiprov

Dobri Kiprov, M.D., H.P. (ASCP) is the Founder, President, and Chief Medical Officer of Global Apheresis. He is internationally recognized as a pioneer and a leading expert in the field of Therapeutic Apheresis, an experienced clinician who has decades of experience in apheresis, and is also an internationally renowned expert in immunology and extracorporeal therapies.

He has operated independently through his clinic, Global Apheresis, since 2021, and is an active researcher in the field, regularly collaborating with the Conboy Laboratory at UC, Berkeley.

Dobri has more than 100 publications and his most recent research has established him as a leader in the prevention and treatment of age-related medical conditions. He recently published on Alzheimer’s in the AMBAR study. His work is focused on clinical applications of apheresis in Alzheimer’s, aging, immunity, and more.

In 2022, Dobri became the Cofounder and Chief Medical Officer of Lyfspn, a physician-led venture-backed startup company working to invent novel therapies that will allow us to live longer healthier lives. The Lyfspn team is passionate about bringing therapies to the world that find their basis in basic science research.

Dobri leads the team at TPE Plus, where they pioneered the use of TPE (Therapeutic Plasma Exchange) for human rejuvenation. They participated in, and coauthored, the original human clinical trials for tissue rejuvenation and the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and they use proprietary replacement fluids proven to be superior to albumin alone.

Dobri has worked in the field of Therapeutic Apheresis for more than 30 years and has published extensively on this subject. He served two terms on the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) Board of Directors and created the first ASFA educational video program. Dobri is the recipient of the ASFA Presidential Award for his pioneering work and numerous contributions to the field of Apheresis and Society. He is also the recipient of the ASFA Lecturers Award and the Francis Morrison Memorial Award.

Dobri is the first physician to take and pass the Hemapheresis Practitioner Exam (ASCP) and is one of the first physicians in the United States to complete a formal fellowship program in Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology (Massachusettes General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, sponsored by the NIH). Dobri’s accomplishments in the field of Immunology are reflected in his numerous publications including the first description of new Immunologically Related Syndromes.

In 1985, Dobri founded the first exclusive therapeutic apheresis mobile program in the USA (Bay Area Mobile Apheresis Program – BAMAP). The program grew from 250 to 2,000 annual procedures under his ownership and leadership. BAMAP was eventually sold for a profit.

In 1992, Dobri founded the Center for Apheresis and Immunology (CAI). CAI was sold for a profit to a national outfit.

With his immunology and apheresis background, Dobri has been a part of the first trials of immunotherapy (cell therapies) and is currently involved in several projects involving Cell vaccines and CAR-T cell therapies.

Dobri was featured in the Bulgarian Documentary neNostalgichno where he returns to Bulgaria. He meets with old friends, with his parents, and looks for his school and his native house, which he does not find at the old address. He discovers a new Bulgaria that he really likes. Dobri earned his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Medical University of Sofia FOM in Bulgaria in 1974. He did his Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology between 1977 and 1979 at The MetroHealth System, and in Immunology at the California Pacific Medical Center in 1981 and 1982.

Previously, between 2007 and 2021, Dobri was Medical Director and Senior Vice President of Apheresis Services at Fresenius Medical Care, where he was involved in teaching and establishing a network providing therapeutic apheresis and cell collections for cell immunotherapies around the US. Under his leadership, the apheresis business of Fresenius grew from 8,000 to over 30,000 apheresis procedures.

For 32 years, Dobri was also the President of Medical Visual Creations, where he started using video and animations to teach complex medical concepts and products in 1985. He is an award-winning video producer and director.

Dobri is a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), the established global leader for continuing medical education in longevity medicine, metabolic resilience, and whole-person care. Watch their educational content on YouTube’s Channel Redefining Medicine.

He is also a member of the Live Forever Club and is the author of Lifestyle in Motion, a cookbook on how to boost your immune system, prevent diseases, defy aging, and control weight. He also published Art and Music Volume 1.
