Joren De Wachter, LLM, QLTT

Joren De Wachter, LLM, QLTT is qualified as a lawyer in two jurisdictions, Belgium and England & Wales. In addition to being founder at Joren De Wachter, he is Member Advisory Board at Zentrick BVBA and Head of Strategy at ipVA.
 
He has almost twenty years of experience in advising technology companies, both from an in-house as from an outside perspective. He has advised the most senior officers within his clients’ business, and he has extensive experience working with private equity investors, and publicly quoted companies in the US and the EU. His experience is truly international, having taken responsibilities for more than twenty different jurisdictions in all the different continents of the world.
 
His decision to set up his own consultancy business was driven by the observation that, although many technology companies know their technology, they typically don’t integrate the Intellectual Property assets deriving from that technology into their business model. Rather, they treat Intellectual Property as a cost at best, or “something for the lawyers” at worst.
 
In doing so, those companies miss out on many opportunities to increase revenue, control and direct costs better, and create substantial shareholder value.
 
Joren decided to set up his business in order to help technology companies understand better their Unique Selling Proposition, to unlock hidden value, to improve the bottom line, and to create shareholder value.
 
Joren lives in Brussels with his family. In his spare free time, when he’s not chatting with his young children about the meaning of life, he is a passionate cyclist, and he also plays the guitar in a rock-cover band.

Joren earned his Bachelor’s in Law at Faculté universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix, Belgium in 1984. He earned his Master’s in Law at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium in 1989. He earned his LLM in European Law at Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium in 1991. He earned his QLTT at College of Law, United Kingdom in 1996.
