Brandon E. Larson
is Student at California State University, Fullerton.
Brandon joined the US Navy right out of high school
in 1991, going into the Nuclear Engineering program. He graduated from
Naval
Nuclear Power School in 1992 and later spent 5
years on board the USS California (CGN-36).
After he got out he went to work as
an HVAC technician and went to school part-time. He joined the US Army
Reserve in 2002 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic, and went to Iraq in 2004
for a one year tour. He went to school full-time after that, pursuing a
degree in Civil Engineering. He spent most of 2010 in Afghanistan (again
with the Army)
and left the Army in March 2011 as a Staff Sergeant. He is now in his
final semester as an undergraduate at California State University,
Fullerton.
Brandon is currently conducting a research project studying the
curing properties
of Sorel cement concrete in a simulated Martian environment. This
involves the construction of a thermal vacuum chamber and associated
equipment for
simulating the Martian atmosphere.
