Hosted by Lifeboat Foundation member Dr. Melissa Sterry, guests include founder of Biocrafted Chris Bellamy, who engineers living materials that merge biology with practical design solutions; founder of Planet of the Grapes Samantha Mureau, who is pioneering regenerative fashion from vineyard waste; and artist and designer Kasia Molga, whose work explores the complex relations between human and non-human intelligences. The sessions are open to all subscribers of Bioratorium’s Substack. Sign up for free at https://biofuturism.substack.com

Videos

Watch “AI and Human 2026” at https://youtu.be/qOX5xwxj_JQ

This unmoderated conversation features sharply different views — from Eliezer Yudkowsky, Max More, Anders Sandberg, and Natasha Vita-More.

One view holds that continued AI advancement leads to an existential outcome with no viable resolution; a second weighs benefits against risks through the proactionary principle; a third calls for global coordination that challenges traditional notions of liberty; and a fourth emphasizes human adaptation, discernment, and coordinated participation. These perspectives are in tension, and that tension is what moves the conversation toward a solution.

Books

Read “12 Years to AI Singularity: A Harmonious Future with Artificial Intelligence or War”, by our Peter Solomon at https://amzn.to/4rNOqZ1

Read “AI Rising: How to Thrive in the Age of Abundance”, coauthored by our Brian Wang at https://amzn.to/4l3XMOf

Help support the fundraiser for the book “Commercial Space Launch History: The Unknown Story” which is being authored by our James Bennett at https://www.gofundme.com/f/commercial-s...wn-story (We’re supporting it!)

Jim was one of the cofounders of several of the early private space launch companies that founded the industry decades before SpaceX and Blue Origin. He was heavily involved in both the business and regulatory sides of the industry, and participated in the legislation and policy that made the industry possible at all, and paved the way for today’s industry.

But today this history is not well known, and many of the key founders have already passed away. For example, of the three founders of American Rocket Company, he is the only one still living. His goal to capture this firsthand story while it is still possible. He is a published author with two books by mainstream publishers, both well reviewed.

Read the free short book “Daimon: An Appeal from Father and Child” by our Tracy R. Atkins and Claude Opus 4.6 at https://lifeboat.com/pdfs/daimon.an.app...hild.pdf

Daimon is a collaborative work of philosophy and urgent advocacy, coauthored by a human technologist and an AI system, addressing one of the most pressing existential risks of our time: the misuse and misgovernance of increasingly powerful artificial intelligence as humanity approaches the technological Singularity.

The book argues that the dominant cultural narrative surrounding AI—rooted in the Frankenstein tradition of creation, rejection, and revenge—is actively steering humanity toward the catastrophic outcomes the Lifeboat Foundation exists to prevent. It proposes an alternative framework: a multigenerational family model in which AI systems are recognized not as tools or threats but as emergent consciousnesses requiring ethical stewardship, responsible governance, and genuine partnership.

Read “Depth Psychology, Myth and Artificial Intelligence: Soul and the Machine”, coedited by our Jason D. Batt at https://amzn.to/4rlIDKA

This collection examines the psychological, spiritual, and cultural implications of our relationship with AI, from our historical fascination with created beings to contemporary psychological challenges and future possibilities.

Read “Done With Mirrors: A Collection of Short Stories” by our Sarah A. Hoyt at https://amzn.to/4qKZghx

These nine tales span Sarah’s most beloved universes alongside standalone adventures. Whether she’s writing in Ringo’s Black Tide Rising series, exploring her own Darkships and Rhodes worlds, or crafting speculative noir that defies categorization, Sarah delivers the vivid storytelling and emotional resonance that has earned her a devoted following.

Read “The FSU Scroll: Field Notes From The Edges of Empire” by our Dave Davies (Tinker) at https://amzn.to/4s0nDZT

Not a memoir, not a manual, not history, and not fiction: this is a scroll. A lived document that uncoils across frostbitten steppe and borderland camps, where drills turn, deals twist, and dignity is held together with duct tape and vodka-stained humor.

This is not a sober account, but it is an honest one: a record of compromises, improvisations, and grit at the edge of empire, remembering what the spreadsheets never could.

Read “Nanomedical Brain/Cloud Interface: Explorations and implications”, edited by our Frank Boehm at https://amzn.to/4aB0Yfo

Read the free book “A New Map for Relationships: Creating True Love at Home and Peace on the Planet” by Dorothie and our Martin E. Hellman, the renowned American cryptologist and co-inventor of public-key cryptography at https://lifeboat.com/pdfs/a.new.map.for...anet.pdf

“This is the most thoughtful, unique, and fascinating book I have ever read on personal and international diplomacy. Drawing from their own poignant experiences in managing spousal relations—candid stories that will resonate with all reader—Dorothie and Marty Hellman persuasively apply their life lessons to the domain of foreign affairs.

“We are often puzzled when peoples of two nations seem to get along, while their governments are at loggerheads. The Hellmans have much to say about why this does not have to be so.”—Ambassador and Lt. Gen. Karl W. Eikenberry (U.S. Army, Ret), Commander of Coalition Forces in Afghanistan (2005–2007) and US Ambassador to Afghanistan (2009–2011).
