Gemechu Taye
Lifeboat member Gemechu Taye is looking to join a team, full-time or
internship!
He is a software engineer and AI builder finishing his Master’s in CS at
LMU Los Angeles this May.
For context, he has hands-on experience shipping AI-powered products to
production. He recently built https://www.vehique.ai, a conversational
vehicle marketplace from scratch — designed the multi-agent
architecture, built the full stack, and scaled it to over 3,000 monthly
users. Prior to that he has a couple of research engineering experiences
at seed-stage startups. He has experience building end to end, whether
that’s the AI layer, backend and infra, or full-stack product work.
He’s looking to join where he can create impactful products.
All his projects and experience are in his portfolio at
https://gemechu.xyz
If you’re hiring or know someone who might be, please feel free to reach
out to him.

InfoPreserver Program
Our Frank D. Smith has been working on our InfoPreserver Program for
about 20 years. This program is a standardized, text-based repository
which covers the necessary skills for a civilization rebuild, in case of
a catastrophic failure in our global systems.
Frank initially created a basic wiki at
https://lifeboat.com/infopreserver and is now ready to take it to the
next level as civilization is at a critical point, making our efforts on
InfoPreserver more relevant and urgent than ever.
Over the past year, he has gathered approximately 500 seed documents,
developed the ontology and presentation system as best he can, and is
now ready to collaborate to move the project forward.
We ask that anyone interested in this program first examine the overview
guide at
https://lifeboat.com/pdfs/infopreserver...v1.5.pdf and
then give comment on the ontology and/or gather useful documents for the
existing categories. We are also interested in ideas for a file storage
system outside of our wiki and a way to teach reading English to non
readers. (Is it possible to bootstrap with text/image only?)
Let’s build!
Articles
Read the article “Houston, We Have a Problem… (Let’s Get to Solving
It)” by our David Bray at
https://oodaloop.com/analysis/decision-...lving-it
A few decades from now, historians might conclude we are living in a
Second Gilded Age. In a bit of a repeat of the 1890s, our mid-2020s
seems to be an era where technological advancements have triggered fear
and uncertainty about what the application of those technologies means
for workers, industries, and nations. Massive polarization of politics
was present in the 1890s and the beginning of the 1900s, with the United
States Congress slightly more polarized than our current era. Similarly,
a push-and-pull over regulation of technological advancements during the
First Gilded Age mirrors some of what we see now amid our Generative AI.
Now the United States and countries around the world are facing another
wave of technological evolutions and disruptions, to include the latest
advancements in commercial space capabilities, biotech and synthetic
biology, quantum technologies, Internet of Things sensors, as well as
Artificial Intelligence.

and implications” by our Robert Lawrence Kuhn at
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a...23001128
In this article, Robert seeks an organizing framework for diverse
theories of consciousness and to explore their impact on big questions. His central theses are twofold: (i) understanding consciousness at this
point cannot be limited to selected ways of thinking or knowing, but
should seek expansive yet rational diversity, and (ii) issues such as AI
consciousness, virtual immortality, meaning/purpose/value, life after
death, free will, etc., cannot be understood except in the light of
particular theories of consciousness.
