And don\u2019t forget the gasoline, garage oil puddles, or tailpipe pollution involved.<\/p>\n<p>A California startup may have the answer: A plug-and-play innovative motor to convert that finicky old gas-guzzler into an electric car. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eric-hutchison-3147769\/\">Eric Hutchison<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/brock-winberg-b2960ba8\/\">Brock Winberg<\/a> first gained attention by rescuing a moldering, V-8-powered 1978 Ferrari 308\u2014you may know it as the model that \u201c<em>Magnum: P.I.\u201d <\/em>drove on TV\u2014and transforming it into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/04\/19\/motorsport\/electric-ferrari-308-intl-supercharged-spt\/index.html\">an electric marvel.<\/a> Now, the co-founders of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electricgt.com\/\">Electric GT<\/a> have developed a DIY, electric \u201ccrate motor\u201d that will let traditional gearheads or EV fans do the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of guys go out for a weekend in a classic car that\u2019s 40 or 50 years old, but they get a ride home with AAA; it ends up being a one-way trip,\u201d Hutchison says. \u201cHere, you\u2019re taking out 95 percent of the maintenance, which is the biggest problem with classic cars.
