Hard light objects behave like any other object \u2014 chairs support weight, bullets kill, razors shave, and so forth. An illusory <em><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/tvtropes.org\/pmwiki\/pmwiki.php\/Main\/EnergyBeings\" title=\"\/pmwiki\/pmwiki.php\/Main\/EnergyBeings\">person<\/a><\/em> made of Hard Light can pick up real things and interact physically with real people, even though they don\u2019t technically exist.<\/p>\n<p>Strictly speaking, hard light is not holography. A <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/tvtropes.org\/pmwiki\/pmwiki.php\/Main\/Hologram\" title=\"\/pmwiki\/pmwiki.php\/Main\/Hologram\">hologram<\/a> is a sort of three-dimensional projection. It is not solid. If something is solid, it is, by definition, not a hologram.<\/p>\n<p>That said, it\u2019s easy to imagine holography being used in tandem with some other technology (<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/tvtropes.org\/pmwiki\/pmwiki.php\/Main\/DeflectorShields\" title=\"\/pmwiki\/pmwiki.php\/Main\/DeflectorShields\">Deflector Shields<\/a>, perhaps) to produce a projection which seems solid to observers.
