Bezos noted that it was this fascination that ultimately played a part in Amazon\u2019s hefty $700 million investment in electric truck startup Rivian Automotive back in February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you think about the auto industry right now, there\u2019s so many things going on with Uber-ization, electrification, the connected car \u2014 so it\u2019s a fascinating industry. It\u2019s going to be something very interesting to watch and participate in, and I\u2019m very excited about that whole industry,\u201d Bezos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/05\/21\/jeff-bezos-to-employees-very-excited-about-auto-industry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bezos\u2019 optimism for emerging industries extends beyond the electric car market. Apart from Rivian, Amazon has also invested in self-driving startup Aurora, hinting that the CEO is also looking to capitalize on autonomous driving technology for the e-commerce giant\u2019s operations in the future.
