Now, both await the scientific process of peer review to see which will ultimately get credit for being the first humans to do so.<\/p>\n<p>But what\u2019s a qutrit? It\u2019s a lot like a qubit, an entangled pair of particles used to <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/science\/2019\/06\/28\/scientists-teleported-quantum-data-into-the-flawed-heart-of-a-diamond\/\">carry information<\/a> in a quantum computing system. Qubits are analogous to bits, the binary units of information used by classical computers like the one you\u2019re reading this on. Where bits can be represented by the numbers zero and one, qubits can be zero, one, or both at the same time. Trits, used in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/chemistry\/ternary-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">classical ternary systems<\/a>, add a two into the mix.
