Patients diagnosed with metastatic tumours \u2013 cancer which had spread to other parts of the body \u2013 were thought to be incurable, but researchers on the clinical trial have found that aggressive radiation therapy can increase life expectancy.<\/p>\n<p>Hailing the research as a \u201cgame-changer\u201d, scientists gave almost 100 cancer patients from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/search\/?search=Scotland&topic_id=9026\" target=\"_self\">Scotland<\/a>, Canada, the Netherlands and Australia \u201csubstantially higher doses of radiation\u201d to areas where their cancerous tumours had spread.
