So can I stop saving for my kids\u2019 college?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/in-15-years-well-be-able-to-upload-education-to-our-brains-so-can-i-stop-saving-for-my-kids-college2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m super excited to share this new Quartz article of mine, part of an ongoing personal debate about #transhumanism, #kids, and #education in my family:<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>But the age of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencetimes.com\/articles\/20129\/20190414\/download-and-upload-of-neural-data-into-the-cloud-of-the-human-brain-accessible-through-b-ci-technology.htm\">downloading experience and expertise directly into our brain<\/a> mainframe is coming. So is downloading professional training, including everything from becoming a police officer to practicing medicine or investigative journalism.<\/p>\n<p>For many in the audience, I think that was the first time considering this could become a reality in our lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>But in plenty of instances, brainwave tech is already here. People fly drones <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/2180054-a-mind-reading-headset-lets-people-fly-drones-using-their-thoughts\/\">using mind-reading headsets<\/a>. Parkinson\u2019s disease patients can use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/10\/05\/brain-pacemaker-stops-tremors-helps-parkinsons-sufferers.html\">brain chips to calm shaking attacks<\/a>. Machine interfaces let people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/90167411\/mit-invents-a-way-to-turn-silent-speech-into-computer-commands\">silently communicate mind-to-mind with one another, or with devices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brainwave technology works by recording the brain\u2019s thought patterns\u2014configurations of neurons that fire in distinct ways for different thoughts\u2014and replicating those patterns back into the brain via electrical stimulation from a nonbiological device.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m super excited to share this new Quartz article of mine, part of an ongoing personal debate about #transhumanism, #kids, and #education in my family: But the age of downloading experience and expertise directly into our brain mainframe is coming.
