Weirdly, there is an entire generation of people who never experienced that dancing wide-eyed paper-clip interrupting a Word doc writing project.<\/p>\n<p>For readers who never knew him, Clippy was an <a href=\"https:\/\/singularityhub.com\/2016\/01\/17\/anticipating-your-needs-emotional-intelligence-is-the-key-to-smarter-gadgets\/\">interactive virtual assistant<\/a> that took the form of an animated paperclip designed to be helpful in guiding users through Microsoft Word. As an iconic symbol of its decade, Clippy was also famously terrible. Worldwide consensus decided that Clippy was annoying, intrusive, and <em>Time<\/em> magazine even <a href=\"http:\/\/content.time.com\/time\/specials\/packages\/article\/0,28804,1991915_1991909_1991755,00.html\">named it among the 50 worst inventions of all time<\/a> (squeezed between \u2018New Coke\u2019 and Agent Orange.
