The surgical procedure, while simple and safe, is <strong>unpleasant<\/strong> for the patient and often prohibitively <strong>expensive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollows.org.au\/our-work\/what-we-do\/ending-avoidable-blindness\"><strong>A <\/strong>ccording to the Fred Hollows Foundation<\/a>, approximately <strong>32.4 million<\/strong> people around the world are <strong>blind<\/strong>, with more than half of the cases being caused by <strong>cataracts<\/strong>.
