(SPI) \u201caltered test results and provided false certifications\u201d for materials used in the rockets, causing their fairings not to separate as designed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor nearly 20 years, Sapa Profiles and Sapa Extrusions [SPI\u2019s corporate parent] falsified critical tests on the aluminum they sold \u2014 tests that their customers, including the U.S. government, depended on to ensure the reliability of the aluminum they purchased,\u201d Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski said in an April 23 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/aluminum-extrusion-manufacturer-agrees-pay-over-46-million-defrauding-customers-including\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>SPI has agreed to pay $46 million to NASA, the Department of Defense, and others.
