Here\u2019s What to Know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/a-new-male-birth-control-pill-is-being-tested-heres-what-to-know2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A second male birth control pill succeeded in preliminary testing, suggesting that a new form of contraception may eventually exist.<\/p>\n<p>The new pill, which works similarly to female contraception, passed initial safety tests and produced hormone responses consistent with effective birth control in 30 men, according to research presented by the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute and the University of Washington at the Endocrine Society\u2019s annual meeting. (The study has not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal.) It\u2019s early days for the drug \u2014 which has not yet been submitted for approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) \u2014 but co-principal investigator Dr. Christina Wang, lead researcher at LA BioMed, says it\u2019s an important step toward effective, reversible male hormonal contraception.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn females you have <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/5482918\/female-contraception-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">many, many methods<\/a>. You have the pill, you have the patch, you have the vaginal ring, you have <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/5520212\/iud-contraception-trump-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">intrauterine devices<\/a>, injections,\u201d Wang says. \u201cIn men there is nothing that is like hormonal contraception.
