The most notable fan of the re-design was Star Wars actor Mark Hamill <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HamillHimself\/status\/1109231418054455298?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1109231418054455298&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnet.com%2Fnews%2Fthis-giant-star-wars-r2-d2-is-actually-an-observatory%2F\" rel=\"nofollow\">who tweeted<\/a> about it, \u201cR2-D2 Observatory Transformed Germans Into Giant Nerds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While spectacular, Zitt and his team aren\u2019t the first fans to complete a Star Wars design challenge. <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.carleton.edu\/campus\/observatory\/news\/r2d2\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Goodsell Observatory<\/a> at Carleton College in Minnesota was also transformed into an R2-D2 back in 2010.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/professor-germany-observatory-redesigned-r2-d2-star-wars-hubert-zitt\/\">https:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/professor-germany-observatory-red...bert-zitt\/<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe one of our observatory domes can be painted to look like this? :-D.
