He was a key player in this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/ex\/press.releases.lifeboat.to.the.stars\">\u201cLifeboat to the Stars\u201d<\/a> event. The award <a href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/ex\/press.releases.lifeboat.to.the.stars.winners\">was given<\/a> to the authors of \u201cTau Ceti\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Fred also participated in our DARPA\/NASA 100-Year-Starship proposal which eventually led to us gaining enough experience in creating NASA proposals that we got <a href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/ex\/press.releases.nasa.selects.lifeboat.proposal\">our first NASA win<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fred will be memorialized forever on our <a href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/ex\/board.memorial\">Advisory Board Memorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"frederik_pohl_gateway\"><\/a><a class=\"alignright blog-photo\" href=\"\" imagecaption=\"Fred&rsquo;s Gateway won the Hugo and Nebula awards!\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" width=\"229\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We will miss him.<\/p>\n<p>Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/ex\/press.releases.frederik.pohl.passes.away\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Frederik Pohl just passed away.
