These selections represent an early step toward the agency\u2019s long-term scientific study and human exploration of the Moon and, later, Mars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Moon has unique scientific value and the potential to yield resources, such as water and oxygen,\u201d said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. \u201cIts proximity to Earth makes it especially valuable as a proving ground for deeper space exploration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NASA\u2019s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) initiated the request for proposals leading to these selections as the first step in achieving a variety of science and technology objectives that could be met by regularly sending instruments, experiments and other small payloads to the Moon.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/press-release\/nasa-selects-experiments-for-possible-lunar-flights-in-2019\/\">https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/press-release\/nasa-selects-experiments-...s-in-2019\/<\/a> --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NASA is coming again\u2026 to the Moon!
