Experts Say the Science Is Shaky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding-right: 20px\"><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/amazon-and-microsoft-claim-ai-can-read-human-emotions-experts-say-the-science-is-shaky.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Facial recognition technology is being tested by businesses and governments for everything from policing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clockshark.com\/Blog\/facial-recognition-construction-time-clock\/\" target=\"_blank\">employee timesheets.<\/a> Even more granular results are on their way, promise the companies behind the technology: Automatic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.affectiva.com\/what\/uses\/more\/\" target=\"_blank\">emotion recognition<\/a> could soon help robots understand humans better, or detect road rage in car drivers.<\/p>\n<p>But experts are warning that the facial-recognition algorithms that attempt to interpret facial expressions could be based on uncertain science. The claims are a part of AI Now Institute\u2019s annual <a href=\"https:\/\/ainowinstitute.org\/AI_Now_2018_Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a>, a nonprofit that studies the impact of AI on society. The report also includes <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@AINowInstitute\/after-a-year-of-tech-scandals-our-10-recommendations-for-ai-95b3b2c5e5\" target=\"_blank\">recommendations<\/a> for the regulation of AI and greater transparency in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe problem is now AI is being applied in a lot of social contexts.
