The service, called AWS Ground Station, works in much the same way as Amazon\u2019s well-established business for tapping computing capacity via the cloud.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ground control \u2026<\/strong> According to <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/blogs\/aws\/aws-ground-station-ingest-and-process-data-from-orbiting-satellites\/\">an AWS blog post<\/a>, big businesses with a large number of satellites typically build and operate their own ground stations at a cost of a million dollars or more for each one.
